Root [ROM] Nero v5 (KA5) /voodoo *Team Whiskey*

At the rate that all these roms have been flooding XDA, I might not ever install another app on my phone ever again

I beat you to the post fool!!! haha jk no worries. I just want to know if it's worth it to flash. I just flashed 4.1, and i think it's great. I'm sick of changing everything every time. I gets exhausting.

I feel like a lot of people have said negative things about KA5. Which makes me a little hesitant.

Keep in mind that the some people were complaining about jl5 when it was first released. There is no telling what was making peoples phones have adverse results from ka5. Maybe team whiskey or masters roms were compatible with ka5.

If each of these roms get me closer and closer to the actual feel of froyo I'll keep flashing. I know what you mean though, thats why I said I don't think I'm going to be flashing my apps back on.

I've started with a shit ton of apps and soon I'm gonna be down to only a handfull. I like flashing these roms cause it forces me to remove apps that I don't even use anymore

How do I know if I have voodoo installed?

You'll know because your recovery mode screen will have red/orangish letters, instead of the traditional green. They did that so you'll know to STOP, and disable voodoo, before you flash another ROM. Smart of TW to do that.

what happens if you flash a rom with voodoo installed?

Bricks your phone. It's annoying to fix. Especially the first time it happens. I'm used to it now though :-)

It all depends which rom you have installed. You can go from nero to nero, axura to axura, and so forth without having to disable voodoo. But it is advised to odin back to stock before flashing any rom b/c of the chances of running into glitches are cut down. I never do and it seems like I flash a new rom twice a week without any problems(knock on wood). The only time I disable voodoo is when I go from something like axura to nero.

Anyone else notice that this is slower than nero 4.1

I didn't like it. Battery life was horrible after I flashed the whole rom and my phone was running a little warmer than normal. I'm even thinking about going back to v3 cause of the little issues that i'm having with 4.1

I think it is slower than the V4.1. WhenI switched back to JL5 and the normal dragon kernal my quadrant score was over 1600. WIth KA5, i get 1500. So naturally I still flash the Version5 but also flashe the JL5 with voodoo.

don't go by quadrant scores, that only tells a 1/3 of the story thats going on with your phone. If anything it acts like a placebo effect.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Actually the only thing I noticed going from 4.1 to 5 was the slight slowdown. It definitely doesn't bother me enough to go back to 4.1 though. I wonder though, how does a rom go from version 4.1 to 5...in four days. That's got to be a record across all of softwaredome.

After a full 3 days of testing 4.1 then v5, I've decided to leave Nero for bit and try out the latest axura. Nero v3 was the tits so naturally I decided that I would test drive the latest Nero's. Much to my dismay, the latest Nero rom has proven to be extremely glitchy. I am going to see how Axura holds up again even though there were some things I didn't like about it before. If anything I'm going to be flashing Nero v3 when all this is said and done b/c I really don't like ka5

Recently flashed to nero 5 and although it's my first custom ROM flash, there's something extremely annoying going on.

Firstly it's an awesome ROM with great speed, and smoothness..
The issue lies with apps SELF CLOSING while not in use. Is this 2.2 FROYO's way of saving power or something? I can open WEB, Contacts, and 3or 4 other apps, only to return to my phone an hour later to find that WEB, and a few others have to "start" back up. Is there a way around this? I liked being able to close apps that I rarely used, but wanted WEB and contacts to stay "running" at ALL times...

thx..

I honestly am not sure exactly what it is you are trying to do, but my apps stay open unless I close them out, so I have no idea what is going on with yours. Are you using a task killer of some sort?

None at all, that's the really strange part. I even deleted the STOCK task manager via TB, and apps still close if I don't use them.
I've done some testing, and here's the basic summary:

1. Open web, and go to google.com (home page)
2. hit the home button, and open other apps such as CHESS, or market.
3. Open task mangaer to find that WEB is still open..
4 all good for indefinate periods of time, could be 5 minutes, or 45...
5. Open web, and it has to RELOAD all over again.

Could this be due to re-acquiring 3G network?

this is my first ROM flash as well (vibrant), I installed the one that had green lettering recovery but it said nero5 touchwiz voodoo. Everything seemed wonderful at first but then my keyboard letters t, g and c (or whatever comes right under t) would not work in portrait mode. I tried to reflash back to original rom to start over now it's bricked so I am doing ODIN with Download mode to bring it back to factory. I've also heard KA6 is super fast. being a noob in flashing, should I go with something else after I recover? (fingers crossed)

What you did was you tried to flash a 2.1 ROM when you had a 2.2 kernal installed. You need to flash the original JFD kernal, then the 2.1 ROM, otherwise you've tried to run a ROM that is trying to run on a 2.2 kernal.

Best thing to do if you want to go back to stock without using ODIN is to flash a 2.1 ROM like "Mate" (devs4android) and then restore using your original NANDROID backup. This is the method I use if I have to send my vibrant in to T-Mobile (I'm on my 4th)
