Root ROM Newbie with a question

I recently rooted my Incredible after a forced factory reset. Since I rooted, I also figured I would try a couple of ROMs. The one I liked best was Cyanogen's. But, there were some things that I REALLY disliked about it (stock android keyboard, ADW launcher, among other things) and re-flashed back to stock Sense (bleh!).

I am pretty new to custom ROMs on the Android OS, but I have a question...

Can I flash to CM's ROM and replace ADW with Launcher Pro (no need in having two launchers with ADW also running in the background), install the HTC keyboard (I happen to really like it), etc?

What I am basically looking for is a stock Incredible without Sense (can I just remove it from my rooted phone?) and without all the bloatware. So what is the easiest way to achieve that?

The first thing I do with CM is to replace ADW with Launcher Pro (get Titanium Backup and you can freeze/Uninstall ADW). As for the keyboard, I'm sure you can find an installer for it somewhere. If not, I really recommend Swype.

You could always install Launcher Pro on your current stock ROM and it would hide HTC Sense. Use Titanium Backup to freeze/uninstall all of the bloatware that you don't want.

Thanks for the help. I have Titanium, but I guess I am not familiar with it enough to know about freezing / uninstalling apps with it.

I would just get the Smart Keyboard Pro app which includes not only the HTC Keyboard, but also the Galaxy S keyboard, iPhone keboard & various others. I prefer Smart Keyboard so much more over stock.

You can't just delete Sense yourself as if it were an app - you'll need to flash a ROM that doesn't have it. Sounds like CM7 or another vanilla ROM along with LPP and a third-party keyboard would be just the ticket for you. :)

I think he has already come to that conclusion, but he just wants to remove ADW from CM7, install LP+ in it's place, and then install the Sense keyboard.

This is the reason I use OMGB instead of CM7, because OMGB doesn't include ADW. I have been told that if I just install LP+ then ADW will just be inactive, but I don't buy it. I want ADW gone, not just inactive. And I don't want to pay for Titanium to get that done.

As far as installing a sense keyboard goes on CM7, you will probably have to see (over on the XDA forums) if there is a mod for the CM7 rom that you can flash that will add the sense keyboard.

If not, you may be out of luck.

If you can't get the sense keyboard, I highly recommend SwiftKey-X as an alternative.

well, you can delete alot of sense related apps. you can get rid of the launcher, footprints, peep, and alot of other sense things and "desense" it yourself. ive deleted all these things from my stock TB,but it has been awhile since ive looked at the "safe to delete" list for the inc... so before you go deleting stuff with root explorer or titnaium make sure you make a backup in case it goes haywire  also id reccomend freezing things prior to deleting and run the phone a couple days to make sure their disapearance truly wont affect anything else.

just make sure you have launcherpro installed prior to deleting "HTC sense" ;) youll be up a creek with no paddle,so to speek without a launcher :p

Nope... HTC sense is the only launcher installed in a sense Rom. Deleting it prior to installing a new one will leave you launcherless
