Root [rom] pac-man

One issue I found is I get system ANR at boot up and sometimes YouTube ANR also. I will try to grab a log cat when I get my USB card Friday.

Setup: PAC ROM, PAC kernel, system set at default DPI and default format (360p), 192/1242mhz, conservative, deadline, ZV7 baseband.

Edit: happens about 85% of boots. Pretty consistent. I have been reboot testing to see it's consistency for the past 24hrs before I report it as an issue.

There no official support yet? Where does PAC man ROMs even put up their official builds, anyone know their official website?

Goo was really the first place I found in Google that had the builds, but it seems like unofficial builds are just on random android forums, like xda.

Yeah that's it. Or at least it will be. Or supposed to be. Or something like that.

The project is rather new and small. It's still getting organized. It's also being run quite loosely by the founder... very little oversight or controls. And to top it off, I think the founder went on a several week holiday and hasn't returned yet.

Lol great way to put it. Awesome project hopefully as it matures they get it organized

Agreed. I know I've said it before, but it really is the perfect rom for me... best of AOKP, CM10 and PA. Now I don't need to hack my DPI and deal with all the store issues, I still get my AOKP features AND it has the CM10 features. It's literally the rom I've always wanted and envisioned, but never thought was possible to piece together.

AOKP should be getting custom density support soon: http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/7791

So, this is constant usage... It does suck a little more battery than AOKP and CM10.1. 3800mah battery. 192/1242 conservative. Sleeps at 6%/hr also radio on, data off in juice defender settings when I let it sleep.

I'm starting to wonder if the paranoid parts are the cause for the app lag. It's starting to get annoying :/

Yea, but you have supercharger enabled, right?

I found when I click an icon, it takes 2-3 seconds to launch the app. Same with backing out of an app; it takes a second or two to close it, rather than instant with aokp and even stock.
I find if I run the cpu @ max with the performance governor, it's less noticeable, but that's no way to keep a phone.

If we could get the interactive X or smartass governor, it might make the kernel more responsive with this rom.

Btw, how do we activate supercharger on the phone (not through adb)?

Depends... To just run the script, which I do notice helps, sure. Download the script open a terminal and "sh whatever_you_named_the_script" to execute the script.

To do all the smali hacking and patching, no. You either need to run it from windows or use pre-patched files. It pulls the files off the phone through ADB, patches them, then pushes them back. However, I seem to notice mixed performance once I do this portion. Basically, the script on it's own just changes the OOM groupings which frees more ram.

To enable init.d you can use an app like Pimp MY Rom, and just click to enable init.d

No real need for ADB.

I usually run the ondemand governor with cfq with my phone set to the largest tablet mode with no statusbar. I believe, if anything, this accounts for the slight app delay I see. If I ran the rom in one of the phone modes, it would probably be smoother.

I've attempted to hack in smartassv2. Though, I haven't had much time to work on it and evertime I have, I ended up getting a boot to blue screen.

Or better yet, is it possible for the changes the supercharger scripts to be added into the next ROM...

I doubt that TDM would want to do that. Baking things like that into the rom is more of a 'kang' than a 'built from source' rom.

Yeah init.d support is surely cool. Not so sure about super charger stuff.

I sent you a PM about the init.d stuff.

Realistically, I could just make a flashable zip for it. If people are hesitant to run scripts.

So I restored aokp v6 and it's definitely not lagging like pacman. Is it possible to disable pa and see if that fixes it?

Fwiw, it looks like pie is what's bogging me down. I turn it off and the room runs as smooth as aokp. Shame, I liked the soft keys.
