Root [ROM] Quattrimus JB (CM10.1, AOKP42)

I personally had to give up on pacman rom because my phone kept cutting off. Three times in 24 hours my phone would just cut off on me. There were other issues with it as well like the navigation buttons wouldn't go away. Everytime I would disable them they would come back anytime I changed something on my phone. Also the tablet settings UI isn't very appealing to me and not being able to change it is a fail on the developers part.. The rom is a really nice concept and would be great if it had a few features that I personally missed. I also noticed some lag in the general animations throughout the UI interaction. The weird thing is that on aokp42 I have bad lockscreen lag and almost perfect smoothness in the UI, and in pacman I have no lockscreen lag and slight UI studder...strange. Mainly for me the phone cutting off issue was a deal breaker. I run a business with my phone and it needs to be at least half way dependable. I say half way because lately thats about all I can expect out of this phone.

I still think it's awesome you got this working tdm. thanks

Can't speak to the phone cutting off. That is strange.

The nav buttons haven't given me any problems. I disabled them early on and they've been disabled since.

The settings app can be changed just as easily as any other app. Either under the hybrid settings or by selecting the hybrid tile when the settings app is up.

TBH, I couldnt figure out how to disable the nav buttons... They were pretty annoying. I ended up using the largest tablet setting getting rid of the status bar all together, adding a batter widget, and just using PIE.

I would get rid of them by enabling pie. But anytime I would change something in the phone or launcher settings the nav buttons would pop back up and pie would disable.

you make me want to try the rom again tdm lol.

I thought I looked everywhere for a setting to make the settings menu normal but never saw anything. I'm not surprised I overlooked it though because I had a hard time finding things on the pacman rom. Things are sorted strange imo. Since you are a pacman rom dev now perhaps you could convince them that rather than having three different rom settings categories they should all be compiled under one section with sub sections. I'm sure that will never happen but I personally think it would make more sense and would make the rom more user friendly ie. easier to navigate.

I'm not sure why my phone keeps cutting off, but it's very annoying. It's actually doing it on aokp as well. I'm not even sure it's off, the screen wont turn on, but I have reason to believe the phone is still running. About a week ago I had an issue where my phone froze and I couldn't turn the screen off or do anything with it but I had wifi tether running and my pc stayed online and functioned fine and I didn't feel like rebooting the phone so I left it sitting while it was froze with the screen on for over an hour, perhaps even two or three, and the whole time I was online with no issues but my phone stayed locked up. I finally rebooted it so I could use it again. My phone is very weird lately. If I didn't spend every extra bit of money I have on woodworking tools I would buy a new phone because it's really starting to annoy me.

I simply love pacman. No reboots, no issues... Just all the shit I like from all the roms, including adjusting dpi without affecting the market.

I have memory issues with PACrom. Had to uninstall it. I had the same apps on it as AOKP. AOKP has normally almost 300mb free. PAC would be around 90mb or less. Very laggy. Anyone else have this?

Yeah. I had the same thing. Enable init.d and run the v6supercharger script. I went from 90-100megs free and crazy lag to over 300 megs free and a good bit of smoothness.

How do you run the supercharger script? I wouldn't mind doing it

you just use a script manager to run it and basically just read along and choose the options you want. It's pretty straight forward. Though I havent tried running it on my spectrum in a long while the few times i did it completely screwed my phone up. I tried it twice on gingerbread and once on ics. I had great success with it on my droid charge but never on my spec. But it seems others are having success with it on the spec now so i might have to try it out again one day...probably not though because most times when i start messing with my phone I regret it because it turns in a huge ordeal which eats up hours of my day which could have been better spent on other things.

See, this is the difference between a dev and a user. To a dev, the satisfaction is in solving the problem and other things become unimportant. :p

heh. And us users appreciate you guys :D

I run a furniture making business and really enjoy woodworking and everytime my phone eats up hours of my time I'm always thinking about how i'm messing a valuable opportunity that could be spent fulfilling orders.

That's awesome. Same thing, different passions. It's so great when you enjoy your work! :D

Ya I will probably hold off. If the rom comes out with it in it, I will run it. But I am happy with AOKP right now. I think I still have to do the wifi wake lock deal. Will this be supported by AOKP or do I need to do it on my own. I think cm has it right?

Sorry for the delay with pacman, I'm super busy right now. I'll create a thread soon, probably Monday, and get some official builds going.

The initial support in. I have to deal with the navbar though -- so the soft buttons don't appear by default. That's probably going in next week. May or may not make it for the first official build.

Usually I just run the script and don't bother with the jar patches. They may give more performance.... But may also be where people run into issues. The script itself all modifies your min free and oom values without the patches which is really what you need.

Just remember it won't do much of anything if you don't enable init.d

Most ROMs come with it enabled but PAC didn't.

You know mines doing this too on aokp and pac.

The phone isn't off if is doing exactly what mine is. You can see a little flicker like the screen tried to turn on but isn't getting any data. If you tap around you get haptic feedback. The bad part is that it always does it while I'm out so I can't get a log cat.

Here's the weird part that I've found though. Sometimes if I launch Google now/search by long holding the menu key the screen will show the app the I can back out of it to my home.. Really odd.

It's almost like the driver gets stupid sometimes or apex launcher and it don't jive always.

I was getting this a lot on aokp and pac but a few days ago I switched to cm10.1 and it's only done it once in 4 days.

I started seeing a weird issue on pacman... The phone turns off and won't turn on until I do a battery pull. Sometimes it's random, others it's after an app overloads the os. So what used to happen with reboots now happens with turning off.

Not sure what the issue is but know that a battery pull is never necessary. Hold the power button down for ten seconds to do a hard reset.

Last night while on youtube, the phone just froze on me and the screen was all jumbled up with pixels and I have to hold the power button until the phone turns off. Does it over and over. :(

P.A.C ROM.

I tried that, of course. The first time it happened, the hardware keys lit up, but the screen didn't react. The second time it happened, the screen remained blank. And I held the power down for 30 seconds.

Same here. Screen rarely reacts and I need to reboot, most times even with a battery pull. CM/AOSP/PAC. This never happened on stock. Lately on all ROMs but stock, I'm having trouble getting a boot from a dead battery and need to pull. LG logo loops twice and cuts off. Sometimes get a zoomed logo. 80% of the time I have to pull the battery for a few second to get it to boot. Also, the battery charging animation is no longer present for me. Still get light flicker from hard keys at times.
