Root [ROM] Quattrimus JB (CM10, AOKP41)

We could get otas for this. But. 1 tdm would have to spend the extra time to do it. And 2 I've never been too fond of ota updates.
Azoller did it in his and its not too hard to setup. Just a PITA. And I'd much rather tdm be working on something new rather than getting ota working.

I just ain't a big fan of dirty flashing. I always wipe the big 3 3x and then flash the new ROM.
...,..............

But about cm10. I have no issues. Been running smoothly on B3.

Anyone know if USB otg works? Might just be user error for me. I cant get it working right on my nexus either
I've never been able to get it to work.
Edit: OTG that is

So just out of curiosity how do you change dpi in cm10 or can you?

I used Rom toolbox pro to change mine. There are several ways to do it though.

Get a build prop editor and look for this line 'ro.sf.lcd_density=250' change the number at the end to what you want. But don't go too low or you won't be able to see anything lol. Its 320 by default so maybe turn it down to 300 to start and see if you like it. You can also go higher if you want things to be bigger.

Bingo. Any build prop editor will do, but if you have rtb, it works well. Lcd density is near the bottom.

I'm @ 300 and like it. If you use quick settings app, you'll find it looks off, but it doesn't bother me.

Yeah I am not a fan of dirty flashing either...was not sure how the OTA's for CM worked so if it falls under a dirty flash, I might be inclined to not use it either. No worries tho

The way it used to work is it would download into a cache folder for the update app and if you had rom manager, it would reboot into recovery and flash. But, that was actually when there were a handful of phones and the script to do that was easy to maintain. Since every android phone is different and there are over 100 models in use, it's impractical to try to cater to all of them.

Changes from beta3 (both cm10 and aokp41):

* Keep sw600 resources for tablet mode.

Note 1. Setting ro.sf.lcd_density sufficiently low automagically activates tablet mode. Haven't tested the threshold but 160 does the trick.

Note 2. AOKP41 has a force tablet mode option in ROM control under General UI. After checking this and rebooting my device hung at the boot animation. Another reboot fixed it. I'm interested in how others fare with this.

* Rearranged i_vzw init.rc/init.iproj.rc files, finally using standard init.rc.

* Hacked on i_vzw init.iproj.usb.rc.

1. Please test MTP and PTP modes. I am too lazy to reboot my laptop into Windows.

2. Please test USB tethering. The USB config error seems to be gone but I'm still not able to get it working. I'm hoping this has something to do with not having phone service but somehow I doubt it.

* Added persist.sys.usb.config=mass_storage,adb to /system/build.prop.
(not sure if this is necessary or not but can't hurt, right?)

I dirty flashed and had the same for both enabling and disabling - first reboot hung, second reboot worked.
Trying a clean flash now.

Edit: Clean install still hangs on first reboot.

USB stuff:
1. After the clean install USB mass storage great without manually selecting mass storage in storage settings.
2. MTP and PTP modes now works as well.
3. USB tether isn't working yet for me, tho it is showing up in device manager as an unknown device, just as adb does. I tried manually installing a few USB modem devices in the LG drivers folder but none of the ones I tried worked and I eventually found one that crashes Windows every time I plug my phone in and enable USB tether lol...

Does anyone know if the USB tether should show up as a USB modem or some form of network device? I'll be happy to keep trying, I'd just like to know which I should be working on.

Mtp and ptp work over here. Sorry, my laptop pretty much sucks to do anything else...honestly I'm surprised the mtp and ptp work. Thank you.

From a little bit of googling it seems that the usb tether should show up as a remote ndis device, but every driver I've tried is unable to start the device.

I've attached a logcat from a usb tether attempt on a clean aokp41b3a install.

Thanks. This is the same error that I was seeing:

E/Tethering( 602): unable start or stop USB tethering

Fwiw, Foxfi works perfectly for wifi tether. I used it last night. Awesome to have that capability back... I was peeved when we lost it out the bootloader locked kernel.

yea but whats the point in using foxfi when the built in wireless tethering works perfect as well. I've been using the built in wireless tether since cm9 and havent had one single issue with it. Plus it's nice to add it to your toggles and then it's just one press away.

What I gather from reading through all these posts is that CM10 is the way to go, AOKP is too laggy, and that flashing Icy Fusion first, getting a GPS lock, and then flashing CM10 should help to mitigate GPS lock problems.

The two things I haven't seen many comments on are battery life and call audio quality. Is anyone experiencing issues in those areas, or is it smooth sailing?

No complaints with call quality but battery still hasn't matched what i was when i was running Black Plague undervoltaged, actually since ICS dropped nothing has been able to match it.

call quality is good. battery for me has been better than stock ICS.

Wow, I didn't realize that feature was available until now. Thx!

No offense, but that's apples to oranges. That rom uses a unique kernel and is tweaked to give optimum performance. Not to mention BP was a variation of stock.
The cm10 kernel is not and we're really piecing together parts to get cm to run on the device.

If you spend some time tweaking cm10, you can get better performance.. I have, anyway.
