Root [ROM] [R910] EXODUS 0.6 CWM or ADB script install

I was just informed in IRC that someone wants this to be built for non windows. Yet I never heard them post here ever. I'm loosing my motivation to do this seriously. Gotten six thanks from people on these boards, and no input. People want more, but yet they don't voice there opinion. I lost track of how much time I spent working on this. Not to mention I was one of the first people to even start posting on the Android Forums Indulge section, when it was still called Samsung Forte.

Worked hard with Mike and others to get all the bloatware off this phone. We even found a way to half root the phone. I was also the one who found the LTE development short cut through Any cut, which was before we knew the dialing codes. Then when ACS rolled around I went and opened my Teamviewer up to let K0 into adb in my phone to figure out how to get Root fully. Not even a couple days later we had full root. To try and help the community out, I went and posted about 5 topics all regarding all the knowledge I had from working at Metro PCS, and from development with the Indulge.

I tested countless Kernel's that were all bad, and probably had to use Odin on my phone over 20 times. Not to mention all the times I had to Odin when my theme/rom crashed my phone. Then last night I was the first person to test CWM, with a chance to perm brick my phone. Sure, I work at metro, and sure I could get it swaped out to a FRU. Not really a fan of FRU = Factory Refurb Units, but I was willing to take the risk. I risked it, tested, and we now got a CWM being finalized so there's no bugs. I've sat in the IRC channel for countless evenings through out the time the Indulge has been out, since about March. Helping people root their phone, or answering questions regarding the phone or the service. I never even asked for operator status, or moderator status EVER on either IRC or any other forum. I feel like also the developers don't give a crap about my help either. I may not know everything, but I do my best to try and learn, and use my knowledge to help others. Is it really that much to ask for some respect and some thanks here and there?

Till I get some motivation, all my updates are on hold.

Silvist, I didn't use your rom yet but I'm in the forums everyday reading and trying to learn from everything that you guys say and do and i think you guys are doing a phenomenal job. Thanks for everything that you accomplish so far and the time invested to do it. Thanks to you and Mike my phone is running a lot smoother without all the Metro bloatware. I can assure you at least on my part that your work is not unappreciated, I think there are a lot of people like me that in fear of looking stupid they don't post because they (I ) don't know as much as you guys.

Thanks again for all the hard work, I hope you keep it coming.

I think I can speak a little for silvist on this but $ isnt the issue. Participation is, we need ideas testers and any other support we can get on this thing. A little thanks never hurt anyone either.

From the day i got this rom ive spent whatever hours i can to help out and make this better. If a few more people could do the same we might be able to get this thing moving on a little quicker.

I tried version 0.5 , now my phone is stuck rebooting at the Samsung screen, i must have did something wrong, any help would be great. i think I'm bricked for good this time LOL

Dammit man! We pissed off one of the guys who cared! I am truly grateful for everyone of you who put in all the hard work an effort for this phone. Before i found this site i thought for a second i made a $350 mistake. The corps like metro an samsung dont care to give us the options an functions as you guys do. Samsung doesnt even plan to release their own extendo battery for this battery hog of a phone. Second is anyone else having issues while trying to us usb mass storage? Mine opens for a second then closes out with out any error? I am going to try to reinstall, just incase i got a bad bite but was just curious.

You probably just need to do a factory reset on the phone. If you dont know how to do this, just turn your phone completely off then slide out the keyboard and hold down the R key while holding down the power key once the samsung logo pops up let go of both keys. You will see a recovery menu pop up use the volume keys to move up and down and the power key to select the menu option. Select factory reset and then your phone should be fine

I already tried that, now my phone is not in debugging mode when i start it, it stays on the samsung screen for a few moments and before i did the factory reset i could have tried to use odin to restore it back, but now i cant, i welcome any other ideas thank you

here is what happened
i was installing the mod version 0.5 i got the usual errors on my phone to force close, i didn't touch anything, at the end my phone never rebooted just froze not responding, thought it was normal let it site for about 30 minutes (scared to touch it) started to make a weird ringing noise i never heard before and then it rebooted. now it is stuck at the Samsung screen for a minute then reboots again. already tried a factory restore by holding the r and power button. no help,
what are my options?

Nah considering your not updating the kernal battery cache shouldnt be an issue.

I have a suggestion, but I'm not entirely sure if it's within your control. I know a lot of members over on XDA are able to get the Netflix app working on their phone with different ROMs and such - even if it doesn't work on the Stock. If there's any way you can get Netflix working, that would be amazing.

Alright everyone, thank you everyone for all your comments! I literally got slammed with messages! Not just on AF, but my email, and on IRC. Thanks again for all your support, really showed me you guys cared . So without further ado here is 0.6 version of Exodus:

Has alot of changes compared to the others:
New Pull down Menu Graphics, Custom Framework, new Market app, new status icons, new font, new wallpaper chooser with new backgrounds, and a replaced the old browser with Dolphin HD with bookmarks to SD.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BACKING UP YOUR FONTS IF YOU DON'T LIKE OR WHAT THE CUSTOM FONT!!

The fonts are located under /system/fonts, and just grab the folder and zip it all or something lol. If you don't want to install the custom fonts you can just under my rom folder, delete the font folder. Were talking about the rom folder that comes with the Exodus0.6zip.

This custom look to both me and T3xan more than a week to do, and got a little easier as we worked on it. It does not change your launchers, so whatever launchers you like to use, will still work. Its part of the interface of the phone.

In case you guys weren't aware T3xan is now co-producer of the Rom with me. He's a graphic artist, so all the graphic work is his! Along with my buddy Aerei who did some awesome wallpapers!

Just downloaded and installed Exodus 0.6 on my phone and the original startup took a while and I began to freak out, but now it's installed and running faster than ever. Love the look as well! So far no problems, but if I find anything I'll let you guys know.

EDIT: One thing I noticed after flashing this room is that the lock screen for drawing a pattern now gets incredibly smushed together (only in portrait mode). It's not a big deal, but I thought you guys might want to know. Everything else looks sweet!

Thats strange it doesnt seem to that for silvist or my phone. Did you clear your cache? If no that would definately explain the problem. If you have then grab us a screenshot.

has anyone else had 0.6 mess up their phone, when I run it the phone gives me the force close buzzes then gives me a black screen, so i rebooted and it does the same wont boot pass the samsung screen before i get the force close buzzes. So I did a factory reset and the problem still exists.

Clear my cache? I'm not sure how to do that. I did a factory wipe after installing the ROM. Is it possible that it's the launcher? I'm using LauncherPro rather than the stock launcher.

Just checked on it and yes mine looks like yours and no Im not using a launcher so its something we will look into for .7.

Well this initially bricked my phone but thanks to CWM I was able to restore to a previous backup, and then this took like 4 attempts to get it to install successfully but now it is done and I am VERY pleased with this update, it actually feels like a rom vs just some tweaks. Thank you Silvist and T3XAN.

I do have one suggestion, maybe in your next version you could include a newer version of swype.

Heyo,

First off the force closes and blackscreen is normal. The question I have for you is did my script complete and auto reboot your phone or no? My script automatically wipes your cache before it rebooted you. The reason for the black screen is because its replacing the look of the phone so again that's normal.

As for custom swipe that's very easy to do and I can for sure make that happen in the next version. Also the next version will be installable through cwm as an update.zip.
