[ROM] rb3mod

I would'nt use ROM Manager on this phone as it isn't officially supported. Manually flash it, and everything should go fine.
 
Installe your rev1 rom worksfine and quick. Only issue is the mobile id keeps crashin, but since I dontuse it, removing is just fine. Islimmed down the rom even further by removing the voicemail and exchange apps. The intelldemand gov works fine, but the cpu clock is not adjustable now, I had wanted to underclock a bit more. Oh, the battery lasts much longer now anyway, so thanks so much for the work. Not sure f its worth reflashing with rev2, unless there are any major changes. A bit of info here, am usingDIRECTORY BIND tocreate symlinks to the extsdclard this has been a lifesaver .An important note.... he 'target' and 'data' directory labels are contrary.the'source' is the target and the dat the source, the labels reversed. A long press willbring up the browser and then find your directories. Make CERTAIN that the bindsand the app have root, and keep inn memy, do not close out the app. You can have the app create the new dir on the extsdalso the new dir, if they exist already, need to be empty elseit wont workproperly.
 
sorry about the poor writing,am on a generic tablet and it lags likecrazy , I hope the directory bind info is elpful. Thescript from joemoss dint appear to do anything, but the storege is kind of weirded out. I have to usethe "Install manager' app and direct new installs to the phone memry other wiset reports back not enough space. Also when I goto settins and check the mem,I show primaymeas about 2gig, then the itemiing. it shows 4.5 gigs used and .98 gigs availale. strange, huh? OK, later! Ben
 
Agree full. There is an update forit but it still is a beta, so more to do from thedeveloper. I use Nova launcher and/or Action launcher pro. Nova is better for small screens, Actionfor larger. They both have a small footprint and are easy to config. Wo has a cleanedota file? Need to get rid of the notifier. Thanks, Ben
 
Sorry for not responding immediately last night. I got caught up in some things after school /:
I will change launcher, remove mobile id, and get rid of more apks in stock. Im searching the web looking for other things i can add too. more suggestions would be very helpful
 
Well I've gotten the phone up and running nicely. I'm looking at the xposed framework now. Also I came across a bunch of nice stuff over at xda in particulart an app called v6Supercharger. The dev says that it will run on ANY rom, so I have a couple of full bkups stored for luck. After i get it running with the new apps and mods i could upload the bkup and you can check out what I've managed. I having reviewing the Tutorial for developing your own roms, and was happy to see that cygwin is used. Many years ago i had used it to develop apps for windows, ;so this should be interesting?...
Thanks so much for your work, and I'd love to help in anyway i can. It's been years but i learned to code in hex back in college, so I have the logic for it at least.

Okay so as far as updates to this:
* I will have moved the otacerts so it can't check for updates (so no more update prompts)
* Changing launcher to Nova
* Slimming zip
* Updated kernel (gonna give it its own thing and look into intellidemand gov not scaling)
* Gonna remove most of TW apps and replace with slimmer copy-cat apps (not next release but next one after)
* Taking out Swype keyboard, replacing with Sony JB keyboard with swipe functionality

I bootlooped the stupid phone, [I formatted the phone and then restored an incomplete backup... Heck, if it can go wrong it will, :} I'll reformat and try your new mod. The few things you removed I had also done. Let you know what happens.
oh, i loaded the Xposed Framework, seems the mods to the display slow the phone down alot, not enough processing power i guess. That's why I wanted to restore, I made a Nandroid online backup, but it wasn't complete. Would you believe that there is no device specific patch for this but there is one for my Craig Tab? [Alwinner crane-evb], I'm guessing that is the reason for the fowled up backups.

Thanks for the info on Xposed...I was wondering about how it ran in terms of performance. Since a device specific patch was written for other devices we could probably write our own patch to get things working. :)
 
Thats for sure. I'll try your new mod in a few, let you know how it runs. I also found a few other interesting tidbits. one is Speed Mod-setcpu_2.24, Ill load it after i have the phone stable again, I also came accross the Uberizer, I can give the link to the Forum, You have to register to dl it. TechKnow , seems like a nice concept, Another thing I'll try out, kust can't include it in rom releases. And they require attribution.

tell me how that goes, and as for handlebars, it just allows GNow to run on ICS. we have JB and official GNow. I took out the stock GNow and added in the Multilang GNow for those bi/tri/quad lingual
 
Yup, Ive got it or both, ics and JB. Hey I've run into a problem. I can't get full restores. I keep getting stuck at the boot anim. Couldn't mount the cache for the longest, now it says it has run successfully but same issue, it's at the Experia anim. it just keeps running it.. I've so far only tried to use the recovery to try to repair this. I'm now trying to link up with my PC, but it's always been a hassle with , specifically, Samsung devices, The usb driver install is a pain, which usb port remembers which drivers, multiple drivers for diff apps. etc..
Any ideas would be helpful at this point.

When doing restores, manually wipe data first. Also wipe cache manually. this is a bug with CWM that isnt well documented.
 
I finally caught that, thanks alot. It was being stubborn, not allowing me to mount, and not formatting. A combination of things finally settled it. I got all mounted then used the ...zip installer. I nwas getting ready to try to odin the sucker, [drivers are a b+tch to figure out. My Tab conncted first time out, vanilla adb drivers;].
Now just reinstalling, and that gets tricky now, I hhave more space used than actually exists due to symlinking to extsdcard. Little by Little.

I installed you rom and the Experia anim was in it. Suprised me but it is real nice. I have a new anim from the V6 supercharger scripts, a Motorola Start up. Not all that imp. I tried the animation enabler and lost the images, just audio, but after running the V6 scripts, it installed it's own anim screen, [opt in/opt out of course].

Well I have no complaints or issues right now, though I wish I had the time to really work on these, rom modding and porting is a blast.

Still here! Sorry for the hiatus, I soft Bricked my tab, a few reflashes and suddenly no more recovery, and then no space! Out of .98gb I had 53mg left, but nothing installed. Seems that I needed to 'clean' the device with an app, then reloaded, alls well.
I see it has settled down alot. Anything new or interseting going on?

Well I been trying to find some things to add to the rom. I did think about adding OC to the kernel but this has yet to be tested and I don't actually have the device. Other than that nothing new :( Hopefully development will pick up again...
