Root [ROM][RC][4.4.4] Android Open Kang Project 12/27/2014

phenomx4

Android Expert
Recognized Developer
This is a beta release of AOKP for the Zte Awe so please don't expect this to be 100% stable. Before flashing this rom I recommend you make a backup just in case. Please report and bugs you encounter, preferably with a logcat.

About: (taken from the aokp website.)

What is AOKP?

AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.

What works:

  • Audio/speaker phone
  • Camera ( flash the camera fix in the patches section below)
  • Headset/headphones
  • Calls and texts
  • Touchscreen
  • Lights/brightness
  • Offline charging
  • External SD
  • Bluetooth
  • Wifi
  • Proximity sensor
  • MTP
  • GPS
  • Tethering

Phenom again fantastic work. You're giving all us ROM whores our flash fix lol. Amazing to see how fast you can fix things now. You've learned a lot and came a long way very quickly since CM9 on the Elite. Good job man. Glad to have you on this device.

Awe Yeeeah peoples!! Viper4android is being maintained on XDA and IT WORKS AMAZING with KitKat. So all you audiophiles should most definitely check it out!

... don't grab the one from the play store...

got a link?

The downloads are under the menu on the site. This is the official site that XDA links to. Whenever you download, just find the file in your file manager and extract. It'll show two versions of the app one for older versions of Android and one for Kitkat (select the app to install according to your ROM). The settings are pretty intensive in this app, as it is a real audio processor NOT just an equalizer. It'll ask you to let the driver install and reboot the phone. It's nice that this newer version sets the driver status for you, but you'll need to choose normal or super quality audio when prompted. I obviously chose Super Audio :p
Just have fun with the settings and find what suits you. There's more options that you can open up to you in the apps menu by enabling expert mode. Here it is

Viper is usually not flashable u have to extract it and paste the version that says 4.0+ to system app and fix permissions to 0644

duh don't know what I was thinking probly had a ROM flashing I was thinking of got it installed thanks for the palm on for head lol

Here's the direct download
ViPER4Android_FX_v2330

I just want to tell you, that this app is the best piece of programming that I have EVER put in my phone. I have been dying for something like this for over a year. It turned my crappy $3 pair of headphones into what sounds like a $500 stereo system! Blown away! I'm discovering bass that I didnt even know existed! Huge thanks! I suggest everyone give this a try. Kiss SRS goodbye! :D

This rom was my favorite out of the KK roms. Thank you for all of your hard work you put into. I never thought we'd see KitKat on our device, ever. I would likely still be using it now, but the random reboots were too frequent. I'm just wondering if the KK roms are still being worked on at all?

Yes Phenomx4 is still actively working on them. He's seeking out some help from other developers for the camera issue and some other kernel related issues. :)

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he decides to bulldoze the threads again, and update all of them at the same time. I remember what happened the last time he got quiet, 3 roms released at once, over night! Unheard of... I'm also starting to think that he might be a supercomputer of some kind, and not human at all. Deep Blue, Road Runner, phenomx4... sounds about right.

I know lol. I was shocked as well. I was hoping to get a non-beta release of CM11 and kept checking the forums, and then out of nowhere 3 KK roms released from the same dude at one time! That just doesn't happen. So I guess it's a good thing things are quiet :thrasher:

OK google fit prompts you to update but the app isn't in the play store yet. Everything else seems good. Just don't use any theme engine themes that touch gmail.
