Root [ROM][RC][4.4.4] Carbon Rom 12/24/2014

That would be awesome! I am running this ROM now and it is working well all but the camera. I would love to debloat this ROM as I am going to keep it for awhile I think unless I switch to slimkat.

What apps can i remove from this rom that arent essential or make it crash?

I plan on looking for more that can be removed safely. I'm sure I missed something, or more likely several things. Here's what I have so far, it should be okay to remove the following, as always though, make a back up. Not %100 tested.

Debloat list.
BasicDreams.apk
BlueBalls.apk
Bluetooth.apk
BluetoothExt.apk
Books.apk
Browser.apk
DocumentsUI.apk
DownloadProvider.apk
Email.apk
Exchange2.apk
FaceLock.apk
Galaxy4.apk
GenieWidget.apk
Gmail2.apk
GoogleBackupTransport.apk
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleFeedback.apk
GoogleTTS.apk
Hangouts.apk
HoloSpiralWallpaper.apk
LiveWallpapers.apk
Magazines.apk
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk

Keep in mind that depending on what apps you like to run, removing some of these could cause issues, though it isn't likely to, if you're spartan like myself.

If anyone is having trouble w random reboots u can take the boot.IMG from the 6/28 cm11 and wlan.ko you will have a no o/c ROM but I haven't had a single reboot yet

Just flashed this ROM and so far Android.Process.Media keeps causing errors while downloading from the play store

This still is a beta but I don't recall having that error on this rom. Maybe try wiping and installing again. I know for example the slimkat rom won't install to my knowledge without a factory reset. These kitkat roms I wouldn't be surprised if they are all updated soon and released at the same time. Phenomx4 is a machine lol

What is omniswitch and how do I use it?

OmniSwitch is an open source, recent apps switcher with support for application control and favorites. The idea behind OmniSwitch was to make application switching as easy as possible due to that function becoming more and more important in Android as RAM continues to grow in new phones. In theory, you should be able to do nearly all of your switching between apps using OmniSwitch with a single swipe and click.
OmniSwitch can be opened by swiping a drag handle that can be freely placed on either side of the screen, and opens as an overlay which contains three parts:
Action Buttons

I haven't ever used it, but I believe you enable it in the app and also need to set it active in accessibility settings..... it may require a reboot to become effective, as it makes changes to your system UI

A Google search away has the answer. I would of linked it but Firefox for Android doesn't give me the paste option in this quick reply box. Try searching for omnirom omniswitch. Probably the first result. Tons of information there.

If anyone is having issues with random reboots with the KK roms, I highly recommend trying this out. It solved my reboot problems. Thanks!

Previously I was having reboots a few times an hour I'd estimate with AOKP. I did this and it's been rock solid so far for 2 days (thats a first).

I also tried this on Carbon, while I didn't have any reboots, a couple times I couldn't wake from sleep (or screen was blank). Though with Carbon I could use the Play Store sd card fix and move apps to my SD, and AOKP I can't. So it's a tradeoff lol. Thats kind of a big deal so I may have to try Carbon again and deal with deep sleep now and then (then manually restarting). Have not attempted the above trick with Pacrom.

It may seem to work, but in all honesty its likely to cause more problems than it fixes. You shouldn't be having any reboots from any of the cm11 roms. This leads me to believe one of a few things has occurred, a dirty flash, a bad download, or a hardware problem. Did you do an advanced wipe before flashing? (everything but internal/external storage) If so, did you hash check the file?

Just a normal "factory reset" option in TWRP, and no dirty flashing here, however after reading your post, I remembered when I tried these out awhile back initially I had a faulty SD card that would constantly eject from Android throughout the day. I had it replaced a couple weeks ago. That's probably why I have more stability now.

Out of curiosity what does replacing those things do? Also what is hash checking the file?

Wow. I just looked in TWRP and I see that system isn't listed in the normal factory reset lol. This whole time I thought I was Wiping everything correctly. Unless I'm messing with the KK roms, I always have CWM installed.

Thanks for the heads up.

I highly recommend twrp for all operations... Cwm is buggy

i have had multiple reboots a day on all cm11 based Roms except the first cm11. I never encountered problems flashing the boot.IMG. sometimes phone wouldn't go into deep sleep that's it. That's why I am on awesome ROM right now

Then for you it would obviously be a boot.img issue

My talkatone no longer works on this rom or aokp. Though I did not flash the previous builds to see if it worked there. It was working great in the previous slimkat. Haven't flashed to the latest one yet though. I will now and report back in that thread.

You guys should check this out....
They work so far by my testing.

OK google fit prompts you to update but the app isn't in the play store yet. Everything else seems good. Just don't use any theme engine themes that touch gmail.
