A little bit weird for me: holding the shift key, while pressing another key on the right side of the keyboard (any keys to the right of the EDX column of keys) allows me to type in caps. trying to type using those small number of keys on the left side of the keyboard didn't work. it only registered that i was touching the shift key. is this a GB/ROM issue? i thought i remembered that the droid had that 'mulit-touch problem' where if the points were too close together, it couldn't recognize the multi-touch.

Thanks. It makes sense. I saw specs somewhere of the GB keyboard and it
said the shift+tap thing was a feature of the keyboard but it never worked for any of the versions I tried or with UD or CM when I flashed those. Map rotation didn't work on CM6. Not dealbreakers of course, just glad to see Pete fixed it.

I went on and flashed last night once the .1 update was released and I see that even the keys to the left of EDX register for me when touched while holding the shift key. I got a force close on the launcher this morning and my 3D app drawer seems to be "sticky" sometimes when I first open and try to scroll. But the ROM flies. Definitely liking the ROM so far, just miss some of the customizations found in other ROMs.
 
I loaded 0.6.1 up last night after trying 0.6 and I have loved both of them. I like the new keyboard a whole lot better and the screen is much snappier.

All of Pete's ROMs have agreed with my phone so I leave his built in kernel. I am definitely liking the changes to the UI compared to stock froyo. I am not much for customization so I love how Pete does BB.

I did wipe data/cache before installing and everything went smoothly. The app drawer smoothed out alot after everything got loaded up in the phone last night. I can't wait to see what he does with the actual 2.3 build.

Most of the new roms don't seem to backup the market. The best way anyway is to use girluvsdroid's method to back up and restore your apps and data.

The only thing I would add is that after you have backed up all your apps and user data is to create an update zip of tibu by pressing the menu button at the bottom of the phone and then the "more" button. Create the update.zip there. After you wipe and install per Girlz method boot back to recovery and apply the update.zip that is in your sd file of root explorer. You will then have titanium backup back in your apps and can restore via that method. Most roms do not bring back tibu.
Another helpful hint if you are using launcher pro is to "backup homescreens and settings" in launcher pro and you can restore after you have all your apps back and your phone will be the same as the last rom less the widgets.

PS I installed 61 over 60 without a problem but did a clean install anyway (just for the fun of it :) )
 
I installed bb 0.6.1 last night and it's running very nicely. I updated the kernel to a P3 low voltage one that will go up to 1gh (faster seems not to be stable on my particular DROID)

So far, the only app that will not run is the BB Toolkit - shows FC (I don't use the toolkit anyway - so no big deal)

Used TiB to restore all the apps and CWM for all the flashing.

I definitely like it better than bb 5 (which was good...)
 
Sorry to ask the noobish sounding question but I've been out of the custom rom scene for a bit because of school. The last BB I used was 0.4 and I just wanted to know if theres some key features before I flash.

1. is there music controls using the volume rocker keys?
2. Control over the led notification light

Also I know a lot of people have been complaining about lack of customization, but am I really missing out on that many features? After modding my phone so much I'm kind of bored with it and just want my phone to run smoothly and BB always gave me the best performance till I started using UD roms, well at least until he implemented that AWFUL new lockscreen

Hey Growler,

1. No, there are no music controls using the rocker keys. Bummer, but from what I understand that takes a decent amount of coding (i think i read that somewhere) and Pete is kind of new to the coding game.

2. Not sure about this one, but I don't think you have control over the LED notifications. So you do miss out on the customization that some other roms provide, but as you said, you do get a good stable rom using BB.6.1

Weird, must be something wonky going on with my screen. Not a big deal though. Glad it works for you!

Ah thats too bad, I use my phone as an music player most of the day, and at the gym, and its really become a key feature for me, and the LED notification were more of just a convenience.

I'm sad to say I'll have to wait on BB
 
**Update**
Ok, so much for the 3D Launcher being great, lol - it reverted back to its usual laggy, sporadic and downright awful self yesterday. Switched back to LauncherPro (tried and true!) - I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM, I just think its a poorly developed application. On another note, anyone noticing that the DSP Manager app on this ROM is the older version? Not only that, but it has a tendency to lock up and become unresponsive..

Coming from UD2.5 here.. used to be a loyal BB follower.. then BBv5 came out and was a supreme let down (a void that was filled by LFY) - took the plunge on UD 2.1 and never turned back..

But seeing a new BB version that people seemed to like.. I couldn't help but flash it.. so I did.. (did a full wipe, including partitions)

What a difference between v5 and this one.. like night and day. ROM is very snappy and smooth, although I noticed that my Droid got pretty hot with the stock slayher kernel that's on this thing.. (I'm going to chalk that up to the ROM settling in on first boot)

The New Market is pretty slick looking but it didn't restore my apps - no biggie though since I don't really have a ton to begin with. I've always hated the 3D launcher, primarily because it was slow and clunky.. not on this ROM though! - in fact, I haven't switched to LauncherPro yet because it's working so well, lol.. just wish I could change the icons on the dock..

I LOVE the new keyboard.. man, this is what it should've been from the start! I didn't think it was possible to get over my Swype fix, but this new keyboard hasn't made me want to load it up..

So far, so good - will see how well the battery life is on this thing as I put it through its paces..
 
Just loaded 0.6.1 on my girlfriend's phone last night. She's real happy with it so far!

For those of you that want LED control you can get Blink from the market. I've used it and it seems to work reliably.
 
I just put 6.1 on tonight, coming from .5. I noticed in the change log that there's an option for using the back button to kill the app you're leaving. How do I enable this? I haven't seen it in my time poking around the ROM, nor do I see it mentioned explicitly in this thread. What am I missing?
 
Actually, I found the toggle I was looking for as you responded. Thanks though! :)
 
i basically flashed over v0.5 and it worked awesome. I went and cleared my cache out and it speed things up. Overall i love it. Its fast, and i love the new things gingerbread has bung.
 
I didn't see this in the thread. Pete released a patch for v .6.1 to fix the compcache. You can download the patch from the link below and flash it from the sd card or you can download and install from ROM Manager.

Once it is installed give it a bit of time (have to let the phone run for a bit) then if you want to verify it, load terminal emulator and type compcache stats and it should give you a list of what it has done. I hope this helps.

What is this? Sorry for the dumb question but ive looked everywhere and cant find out if this applies to me and what it does, I am currently running BBv4 and was planning on flashing BBV6.1 today. Should i flash V6 then flash the patch or is the fix in the newer version of the ROM?
 
Do you know if Pete's compcache patch addresses the issue of BB Toolkit not starting? Evey time I try, it dies with a Force Close error.
 
Is anyone else having issues with the autocorrect not working with the software keyboard?

I'm used to having the end-of-sentence period enter with two spaces, and such.

None of the usual correcting and word-finishing is happening. I don't have any alternative keyboards loaded.
