Root [ROM] Stock Jellybean 4.1.2

The downloading etc. screen is the mode needed to reflash firmware. Plug the phone in and leave it off for 30 or so minutes then try. Once you have that screen showing let me know and we can go from there.

Thanks again for your kind reply. Weirdly, I got to the downloading screen only after removing and replacing the battery--not by pressing power/vol down/home!

I await your instructions. And I appreciate them mightily.

Just got back home. Connect the phone to the PC. Download Odin 1.87

Then if the window in Odin where it says Id com lights up and shows a number then that part is good to go.

Go here and type in your model number.

SPH-M950, download the firmware.

Press PDA in Odin select the firmware you downloaded. Press start wait till Odin says pass. It should reboot.

Again, it is so very kind of you to give your time, effort, and expertise to help me out. Alas, Odin will not recognize my Reverb. I have tried two different computers and a tested-good cable. Is there any way to install straight from a micro SD in the phone?

BTW, here's what the "Downloading..." screen on the Reverb has in the upper left hand corner:

[ODIN3]
Product SPH-M950
Version: M950VPALH6
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: OFFCIAL (SIC)

Do you have usb drivers installed?

If not install Kies 2 then try.

Well, there was a time when my computers at least recognized the Reverb when I plugged it in via USB, but not since it's been bricked by the file in the original post..

I downloaded and installed Kies, but it does not automatically recognize the Reverb, just saying "Please connect a device." When I tried "troubleshoot connection error," it seemed to run the troubleshooting script, but that didn't help. When I tried "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation" and put in the model number, Kies just froze up on one computer (Win8) and yielded an error message
the first time I tried on another computer (Win7) and then froze up with all subsequent attempts.

So...still a brick.

I greatly appreciate your generous help.
