i was wondering if there was a way to keep all my apps when i switch roms?
i do a backup on cwm but when i restore it only puts some of my apps back

U can use Titanium backup 4 a few apps, but its recommended that u just reinstall them, as they dont always work the same on different roms....

That's because it's not meant to work that way. When you restore apps and data from another ROM you also restore the SYSTEM data from the previous roms system apps. this leads to instability.

your best bet is to just reinstall them all from scratch.

If you decide to restore your apps with a titanium backup type app, and things don't work right (fc's, missing apps, broken home button, 3g not working correctly, etc. ) then you know the reason ;)

lol... Gotta give it to ya there LV... I don't think I could have said it better myself...

I thought people knew not to try to restore apps from different ROMs...
It just doesn't sound like a good idea... lol...

My bad I guess...

No, you're good. Don't apologize. :p

We are all here to learn. Everyone learns at a different pace. Just take the comment as constructive criticism... I don't think he meant it as an insult. Some of the long time lurkers/contributors just take certain information for granted. ;)

At least you were smart enough to ask, rather than sit there wondering why it didn't work, beating your head on the wall:banghead:

if you go to play store, click the info (bottom left hard button on phone), then pick my apps, slide screen to left and will show all your apps.

just giving the info out, i didn't know that for about 8 months after using. so incase others don't know that either.

Yeah... didn't mean to come off like a dick... I was just messin with ya a little... ur good... we all need help sometimes...

Is it safe to restore data only for a few apps when switching ROMs. I almost always do a fresh install of the apps but have been changing ROMs a lot here lately and was wondering if the data only would cause issues, as its only a few apps like games or preferences that i would like to restore. I havent seen any problems with it yet but havent done it that much either.

when you switch roms and then install apps fresh, make a backup. then install the data for the few apps and try it out. if it causes a problem then just restore and do the data one at a time till messes up and that is the promblem one. then when happy and working fine, make a backup. you can rename your backups too without putting any spaces in name. then store a copy on pc and later if want to switch to one they will say what they are.

Thats what I normally do but I haven't found any data only restores that have messed with me. Then again I don't do that many.
