Since my evo is currently NOT activated, cell signal strength obviously doesn't matter for me.
Before I rooted, I had already received an OTA for newest Baseband/radio version 2.15.00.12.19, so I thankfully didn't have to flash any radios (which I was told was 1 of two things I could do at this point to brick my phone, the other being installing a rom for the wrong phone).
After rooting and installing Deck's Reloaded, I think my wifi actually did improve slightly farthest in my home, where I was getting the lowest or no wifi, but it's still intermittent sometimes. If I'm using the same radio, why would my wifi improve...do the custom roms tweak wifi as well?
If so, any suggestions for roms that increase wifi, or are there any tweaks I can do myself?
