Root ROM Toolbox

Just curious how many use this app frequently or not so frequently? I recently placed it back in my app drawer after someone I respect as a helper/guide on this site suggested in one of the threads.

It seems like a all-in-one app for doing several maintenance items...

Tell me what you like best about it...;)

I love it. CPU tweaks, kernel tweaks, buildprop edits, font changes. It does everything. Get the pro version.

It in no way conflicts with Amon-Ra recovery does it? What I mean, I can do backups thru recovery (nands) but I can also do it thru ROM Toolbox...no conflict? Thanks and it does sound like a great app..:)

I personally would still backup/restore thru recovery, not rom toolbox myself.
I use the toolbox to set governers, change fonts, tweak kernel settings, build.prop etc. I do not use it to backup/restore. :)
Would it conflict? Not sure, but Ima not gonna chance it.

As far as I know the backup option is not compatible with amon-ra recovery. I think its only with CWM and TWRP. I personally wouldn't trust it with CWM, although I haven't tried the latest versions.

Agree with Mike, stick to nandroids in recovery.
+1 Mizzou on the Pro version too. The free one is ok but behind on updates from what I've heard. I was lucky enough to get the PRO version during a promotion, but I still think its worth the price. With this and TiB you're pretty much sorted.

Yeah the number of functions: got root browser with text edit function. ad blocker, reboot options built in, T.E, theme options....

Thanks Robo! Is root browser better than using Astro or is it different? Also, with the ad blocker, does that mean I will no longer use/need AdFree app? :)

I backup nothing with rom toolbox. I don't even know what it backs up. The amon ra based recovery smelkus mod is the best recovery out there for the evo. Absolutely rock solid.

Yeah, Amon ra is all I've used since rooting, I'm using v3.11 but may try the smelkus. What's 'better' about smelkus, just curious? Thanks :)

In theory yes with the ad blocker. The root file manager, probably works the same as, I haven't used astro in a while. The other one I use is es file manager.
The top 3 reasons to get smelkus mod
1. The new wipe categories
2. The auto reboot after backup/restorem
3. Compressed nandroids so smaller and save storage space

Nice! You're all over the board today:
voicemail, smelkus, rom toolbox, dropping sprint later....when do you work? I suppose if yer duh boss, you can do anything you want eh?:p

LOL! Heck, I had a slow-ish kind of day so I figgered - let's just get it ALL out there and talk about it!!! Still got MORE to post later, but I prolly oughta give up some floor time to others on here! :D:D:smokingsomb:

Yo funny...:p

With all the apps on the market, ROM Toolbox Pro is one of the few I find very worth purchasing and I have yet to be disappointed. I bought it over a year ago and I still use it religiously. The plethora of options that range from aesthetic customization to maximizing performance in an all-in-one app is just awesome! My favorite things are the ability to customize my fonts and changing my boot animations. I also used it with HipKat's Ultimate Guide To Everything Evo 4G -- scroll down to V6SUPER CHARGER & CAR-O-DOPE TWEAKS in post #2. Use Car-O-Dope's section, if you're using an AOSP rom. I did this using an AOKP rom and noticed some extra speed and smoother performance, but that's just MY experience. Your's may differ.

With that said, I do have to agree with Mikestony and MizzouBrent and advise against doing backups through Rom Toolbox. Nandroids seem to be the safest and most reliable way. Also, imo, SmelkusMod recovery is the best thing I've ever seen -- as far as recoveries are concerned. The combo wipes ability alone had me sold. :D

Oh yeah! I agree that smelkusmod recovery is pretty neat. I also would not trust my backups to anything other than smelkus...:D
