Root [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][4.4.4] DeCAF Cyanogenmod 11, Release 1

Im at school but when i get home ill take some screen shots, and i used the gapps-kk-20131209.zip and philz touch alpha and flash both the rom and gapps from the external sdcard

Weird, not sure why you got status 7, but try to open the zip, open updater-script and remove the top couple of lines about checking if the device is an x5 before install. That might be the problem.

Deleted the first 3 or 4 lines...started with deleting 2 then got status 6 then a couple more and it finally flashed. Here is what the updater script looks now

I couldn't play long but from what I noticed...
-Obviously no data/radio
-Camera would not connect
-Voice dialer is not working-not that I need it...

Everything else seems to be good!
No black squares or visual problems, games all seem good...no freezing issues

If you have any suggestions or tests you would like me to run I will try about anything

Did you have sound when you tested? I'm wondering if cwm changes anything, I used twrp for all my flashes so far.

Lol..I didn't notice any now that you mention it.. I will try my backup again later, but I'm pretty sure there was no sound

Edit:
Confirmed no sound
Also YouTube would not play videos

in the philz touch recovery i make a backup then went to the wipe option and did the clean wipe for a new rom, then flashed the rom then gapps, after all that i reboot, hope this can help with any errors while flashing
 
I have fairly good hardware and would be interested in helping build or compile but I have no experience in android development to be perfectly honest, if anyone could point me to some stuff to get started I would love to help with this or other ROMs.

Everything you should need is in my first post. I didn't have much experience either at first but I'm figuring it out step by step. Good luck!

Thats what i was wondering if i could do but didnt wanna screw anything up, looking forward to installing the next build

I'm going to try in a bit, but did data/ 4g work? Or just cell signal?
 
Data works!
3g definitely works
Stock messaging app won't send
Textra from store will send and receive sms and MMS
Videos and sound are still broken
Tested phone by calling a phone in my house...it went through but no sound on either end..also while phone was 'connected' screen started flashing and when I hung up the other phone, my volt rebooted.

This is awesome!
It seems you are getting really close to a daily!

That's awesome, i couldn't get data to work but I could call with no sound like you said. I think since we are using stock kernel source we are gonna have to use a lot of libs and binaries from stock. After that its just getting the overlays set up and then everything should work.
