Root [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][4.4.4] DeCAF Cyanogenmod 11, Release 1

Lmao cmon now, some of these questions are getting out of hand. Nowhere in the op or any of my other posts does it say anywhere about enabling a virtual com port. And if you are in to phone programming, you should know by now that diag mode almost always only exists with a stock ROM. Please read and understand that this is just a ROM! Its not gonna give the volt super powers or anything like that its just cyanogenmod. Lets try to keep this thread dev-related, if you have any general questions, please start a new thread to discuss them.

Also sands, you can use twrp or cwm to flash, but I believe with cwm you need to delete the first couple lines of the updater script talking about a device model check. Radio will work with both recoveries, its just that stock ROM radio won't work with twrp and I still don't understand why at this point after messing around with it.
Ok cool. I appreciate you getting back to me. I have tried over 30 times to download but I have Fair Point as an ISP and right now their service is all over the road and I can get the download to 95% and then the server gets stupid and the download fails :/... I'll try again in a min from another computer. I have both cwm and twrp ready and if I can maybe later after flashing it with twrp I'll give editing the updater-script a shot and if all is well it works and I did it right, it shouldn't throw a status 6 or 7. And I get what your saying about staying on topic, I'll do that.

No problem man, your question was valid. It was a Dev related question related to installing cm11 so I had no problem with it.

A general reminder to everyone, this is still a Dev thread until a final build is released. Please direct all off topic and support questions to another thread where someone could help you better. This is a dev thread, so please read the whole op before you install this and make sure you have 1) a good backup and 2) an understanding of what could go wrong and how to fix it before you flash. Please keep this thread clear for discussion about how to fix our problems we still have in building cm11. The less time we take sifting through to find relevant information, the more time we have to fix problems.

On last build I had changed my runtime to art an on this one when I changes it will optimize all apps then get bootloop an also I'm stuck in cwm touch I'm not sure how i got touch but anyways keeps telling me in log that its emmc bug an .android_secure is missing I'm restoring with DL will replicate an pull log if it will help y'all an this time gonna have a twrp an cwm restore on seprate SD an quick question can get a HP 2000 with 4ram 8.1 500g hard drive can I do anything with it will just cost me a new screen

I'm only going to say this because in the past I did it too thinking I would wing it and regretted it and had to start all over from scratch but always make a backup,sometimes I even make 2 copies to put on my laptop and on my sd in case I make mistakes with this phone and believe me I have. I haven't used cwm touch on this phone at all only twrp and the cwm fastboot method and just normal cwm and now I'm using the working plain twrp build so I can't really help you there besides like you said starting over with LG Flash tool and download mode. As far is the ROM is concerned, were you running Xposed framework before you switched over to ART? Cyanogenmod or not most of us have had more luck sticking to Dalvik for this exact reason, I could be wrong but it comes down to compatibility with kitkat and apps as apposed to Lollipop where ART is the norm. I believe you MIGHT be able to push past the bootloop by holding power when you start the phone until it loads into Safe Mode and in the process disabling Xposed and going back and changing ART back to Dalvik. Make sure to read the OP and prepare yourself fully maybe next time so you can avoid the headache :) it only benefits you if you can get your to phone back to good. If you are able to get your phone going again, grab flashify from the play store https://play.google.com/store/search?c=apps&q=flashify and flash the twrp or the cwm found on these forums if you try this again and you should have better luck. Let us know what happens please

nonCAF cm11 from 12/26. working camera and camera torch. torch app not working, but i know where the problem is. Data works if you set it to 3g only, uicc card not getting recognized for some reason and apns got borked somewhere in the process.

Still working on audio and sensors, after that I would call this rom a beta.

I need someone with time and knowledge to read dmesg and logcats and see if they can see what I cannot about sensors and audio. I tried building with legacy alsa audio and qcom directtrack, legacy alsa compiles but dirrecttrack throws all sorts of build errors.

Yes I would like to know about that sound like does it comes out of the headphones with music and what not and I use hangouts of my texting and calling

As far as sound goes thats a no go yet. I worked a long time last night trying to get it to work but I ran out of time and will try again tomorrow. @whoshotjr2006 I'm pretty sure of this but are you using Virgin Mobile? I'm using Boost and I tried a few different ways to chage the apn info and to restore the backup I made with Apn backup and restore and I have the .xml for that too but it has the boost apn info if you or anyone else needs it or wants to check it out. I tried editing the build.prop and the apn menu manually and still no luck.. Yet. 3g does work for me on this one but my phone is thoroughly convinced it's a Virgin Mobile lol, we all get confused sometimes. I think your definitely right on the radio being the stumbling block but I looked too and I don't see what we're missing but it has to be something simple hopefully. I had to flash my cwm backup tonight to get a few calls in but wanted to let you know what the results on my end are so far. I'll flash cm11 again in the morning and keep working at it, I'll dig more online tonight and see what I can find to help us. If anyone has insight on fixing either of these problems, please speak up or give it a try yourself if you are prepared and have an idea of what your doing. Every bit of help counts! :)

No sound at all yet, what I built last night will play a few random sounds but to me that's not good enough for even a teaser build.

Sands, yep I'm on VM. I have a few things I'm looking at now to see why it defaults to virgin instead of choosing between it and boost. I'm gonna lose my data connection for a month so I won't be able to really test data, so I'll need someone who has good working stock data to test eventually. I'll let you guys know more once I get things fixed.

OK @Sands207 I'm am on Virgin mobile and I ran through some things like first the home led was just running, there's no sound like NONE when I try to play music it says the DSP or something like that as stop working and for the radio I had bars but I didn't check if it can call out but everything was working I found some gapps flashed then in CWM (along with the ROM) and every thing was great the camera was working too

Awesome, your feed back is appreciated! Can you link us to the gapps you used? Just wondering did you edit the lines in the updater-script that @whoshotjr2006 had mentioned to me? I have only tried flashing this with twrp so far, so this will likely be where I start from later today to see what differences I can see too keep going from there. As for the sound, we still have a few things we can try I think. And the LED, i think we can turn it of by force in either g2 or g3 tweakbox at least temporarily. Either way, we are moving forward. @whoshotjr2006 maybe we can help you with your data man. In a few days I might be in a position to do that. You've done alot for us, it's the least we can do for you. Thanks again

I do appreciate it sands, but it was my choice to go without data. I could pay for it no prob, but i figured maybe that could get you guys a win and let you guys take the credit for the data fix. I'm gonna be at home chilling till the middle of january, about 10 days before my next plan is due so I figured why pay an extra 15 for data when I could throw that towards GTA 5 on 360 lol. You guys are all awesome and I appreciate the offers regardless.

I think this the one I used the light one just for the play storehttp://www.thedroid.net/download-google-apps-gapps-android-kitkat-3116/ just flashed it and I was done and glad to help

Hello! I am having issues with my cm11 compile following your instructions. I am getting:

frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/AudioPlayer.cpp:42:24: fatal error: QCMetaData.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make: *** [/home/blue/Development/CM11/out/target/product/x5/obj/SHARED_LIBRARIES/libstagefright_intermediates/AudioPlayer.o] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/AMRExtractor.cpp: In member function 'virtual android::status_t android::AMRSource::read(android::MediaBuffer**, const android::MediaSource::ReadOptions*)':
frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/AMRExtractor.cpp:262:22: warning: comparison between signed and unsigned integer expressions [-Wsign-compare]
frameworks/av/media/libmediaplayerservice/StagefrightRecorder.cpp:66:25: fatal error: QCMediaDefs.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

I've been grepping the paths for QCMetaData.h, QCMediaDefs, and it seems to want to look for those files at frameworks/av/media/include/ instead of hardware/qcom/media/mm-core/inc. I've read fixes for this by moving the files to the frameworks/av/media/include folder but it seems like a dirty fix. I got further in the build by doing it but the problems come back after a repo sync.

I've been looking at the make files for 'frameworks/av/media/libstagefright' and noticed the line:
$(call project-path-for,qcom-media)/mm-core/inc

Not sure if this is correct or i'm just going down the wrong path to fix this. Maybe this is a simple fix in BoardConfig.mk but I am not sure. I did not change anything from whatever is on the repo. Just wanted some input from somebody more experienced as I have never done anything this fancy in linux yet hehe. Thanks for any replies!

Are you using my caf kernel source or stock based? Also if you could upload your board config.Mk so I could look at it I could tell you more.

Kernel: https://github.com/chevanlol360/Kernel_LGE_X5
I forget which is CAF
EDIT: my bad wrong kernel link but I guess this is a modified stock

BoardConfig.mk
http://pastebin.com/s7dvduQP

I am rather new to this so I left it unchanged from your repo (i think). Just going for a compile before I start rocking the boat hehe. Thanks for taking a look. I am fairly sure I have the files in the right locations mentioned in your original 2nd post for devs.

download the attached boardconfig.txt, rename it to BoardConfig.mk, rename your BoardConfig.mk inside /device/lge/x5 to BoardConfig.mk.bak and put the one you just downloaded in the device/lge/x5 folder. that or copy and paste all the contents of the one i uploaded and replace yours. The one you are using is meant for a caf kernel build, and the one i uploaded is meant for a stock rom build. that should get you past most of the build errors.

Excellent! Thanks a lot. Trying it now.

I think i got past the previous error. Thanks a lot whoshotjr2006.

Now I have a new error messages. I remember fixing this one before by just adding in the definitions but that was probably a bad idea. I'm guessing I have to delete some conflicting things between /frameworks/av/ and hardware/qcom. Oh well glad I am seeing something different this time. Hopefully I can a get build going so I can start tinkering and breaking (or fixing) things.

I guess a repo sync fixed it. Now I'm onto a new error:

Going to try out this fix i got from another thread:

Thanks again whoshotjr2006!

I don't remember what I did to get around that one lol, I know if I use the kernel source I modified from chevanlol360 it doesn't throw that error as opposed to stock source from lg. If I remember I'll let you know.

I believe my previous fix worked or did something at least. I had to apply it to the make files in hardware/qcom/(msm8960 and msm8x74)

Added the bolded part to ./kernel/lge/x5/include/linux/msm_mdp.h
struct mdp_buf_sync {
uint32_t flags;
uint32_t acq_fen_fd_cnt;
uint32_t session_id;
int *acq_fen_fd;
int *rel_fen_fd;
int *retire_fen_fd;
};

No idea if that was a good idea but it worked.

Now I'm onto a new error:
hardware/qcom/media/mm-video-v4l2/vidc/venc/src/video_encoder_device_v4l2.cpp:1592:18: error: 'V4L2_CID_MPEG_VIDC_VIDEO_REQUEST_SEQ_HEADER' was not declared in this scope

http://pastebin.com/YVnDwi2q

Seems like a fairly recent bug from what my googling suggests. Not sure how to fix this one.

Not sure if its familiar to anyone but worth a shot putting it here. I have no idea how far I am from a full build but it sure is fun bug hunting. :)

PS: Thanks to the awesome community. Definitely fun just learning how developing roms work. :)

So I was finally able to build but CWM refused to flash the .zip file cm-11-20150101-UNOFFICIAL-x5.zip.
I received this message in CWM v6.0.3.7: "This package is for device: x5; this device is lg_ls740v3"

Any idea whether I should try flashing in TWRP or mess with one of the make files? The rom's device name doesn't seem to match what CWM is looking for as a device name. Maybe I'll try rebuilding after I find out where its looking for the name.

PS: Happy New Years to those reading this!

I forgot what file it was but to have to edit the installation file before you pack it up in the zip. You have to take the first few lines out that checks to make sure you're only flashing it on this phone.
