ROM Upgrade for HTC Hero (H3G)

It keeps all 3UK settings, wipes everything else (contacts/apps/etc...) but as long as your contacts are synced with google once you login to your google account at reboot all your contacts are synced back to the phone. The market also keeps a list of your purchased apps so you can redownload them.

The first time you launch market it should also list the free apps you downloaded (well it did for me) I downloaded some of them but when I went back to the markets later the ones I didn't re-download were gone, so I'd advise making a list of the free apps you have before upgrading or back them up with Astro.

1. My phonebook is quite different than my Google contacts. I have many phone numbers stored on my phone that are nowhere to be found on Google. I don't want to lose my entire phonebook. How can avoid this?

2. I don't recall the Market keeping track of which apps I've downloaded. In fact, many of the apps I've downloaded previously, quite accidentally, I've noticed have updates awaiting.

1. Before updating you can convert the non google contacts to google contacts and they will synced to your account

2. The fact the market is showing you that there are updates available means it IS keeping track of your apps. Apps don't auto update, market tells you if there is an update available and offers you the choice of whether to update or not.

If you have apps you don't use on your phone (accidental downloads) it's probably best To uninstall them.
