Root Rom.... what and how to???

zig1

Newbie
Can anyone get me through my final stage... just after rooting, setting up partitions etc.... well hopefully cause I'm very new to all this...

Which Rom(with app2sd obviously) would be suitable for me... I don't want to change too far from what I already. Is that called stock?????When I started this I just wanted to store more apps easily.

I want it to be as stable as possible. I've never done this before so is there a step by step guide on actually putting a Rom on ur phone!!

thanks...

Google for: Ledroid mini

Download the latest rom with a2sd

put it in the root of your sd card, boot into hboot, then into recovery, asuming you have Clockwork. Choose install from zip then reboot system.

Is it as easy as copy file to sd card if I was to use usb card reader on tIe pc, then put sd card back in phone and follow ur instructions??
Really am new to this as you may have guessed!!!

You don't even need to take the card out of the phone: plug the phone into a computer and select usb storage mode and you can mount it like a flash drive and copy the file straight onto the card.

But, when you are in recovery, before installing the zip file please choose backup/restore and then backup. After that you can do the installing. This makes a "nandroid" backup (recovery backup), which can be used to restore your phone to its original state if something goes wrong with the ROM install.

You might find it useful to wipe before you zip your rom.

Its actually quite important that you do choose wipe user data, before zipping a rom.

Heck lol

Zig, no disrespect intended but if you weren't aware you could transfer files to your phone without a card reader, perhaps you're jumping into rooting too early.

I strongly suggest everyone gets used to how their handset works before taking a step like this
