I bought Romfinder not so long ago, and it was a great looking app for grabbing game roms for Gameboid.. seriously polished and well made for such an apk.

I rooted my phone and went to CM7 last week, and when I went into Market, it didn't come under purchased apps, neither did it come up under a search.

I have also searched online for a working APK and all files found do not. Even with a 2.4.4 version, it asks you to update to the newest... which happens to be 2.4.4!

I have contacted the developer via gmail, which links in the original purchase email, but I dont know if i'll hear anything back. I don't really want to buy another Rom app!

Anyone got any answers or solutions?

I believe it was reported that the influences of Nintendo got that application removed from the Market. I would just be patient with emailing the developer. He is likely bogged down with emails as he wrote that anybody who purchased his app could email him for future apks.

Thanks for the reply.. I didnt see that. If this is true, then I'll hang back and wait for a response. Cheers.

Rom Gripper apps no longer work. You can download and install them (although not through the market) but the rom downloading no longer works. You will get connection error messages.

I think these apps are being taken down due to legal issues. But it's easy enough to find roms on the internet and transfer them to your phone via USB. There's plenty of sites out there.

Please don't distribute apps that may be in breach of copyright. Android Forums has no desire to find corporate lawyers knocking at Rob's door. ;)

Actually the version i have 2.14 from the apps management page still works. I downloaded "Around the World in 80 Days" (GBA) as a test and everything ran fine.

However as stated above I will not be posting my working copy on the forums. Your on your own till the copyrights issues are resolved and the app is back on the market if that ever happens.

I don't want to see any legal action towards the forum or myself for that matter.

But at least you know a working verson does exist.

Any kind of Rom finder like app is no different from the likes of napster, kazaa, and limewire. They were destined to be shut down from the start.

If that is the case, then why would an Emulator be any different? If all the roms are illegal, then the emulator should be too. You can't have one without the other. ??

The purpose behind an emulator is to play games that you own. If you own them, you can get the files off of whatever hardware contains them.

I do see your point a little bit though, and I do think it is ******ed there are so many copy rights and lawsuites on both hardware and software that are no longer made or supported by the companies that originally sold them...I don't really see what they have to lose.

potential revenue loss from future re-released games in HD, special editions, wii ware, psn store releases, and XBLA relreases. if they ever wanted too they could make more money by putting the games on these platforms.
