Root Roms For The Fierce 2

...I have rooted my Fierce 2...awaiting a custom recovery. New to all this...might be a stupid question, but I found a link where it explained how to upgrade to lollipop by first installing a cwm recovery...which is not available for this device yet... What gives? Do people just "guess" at a recovery for a similar cell phone and hope they don't brick? Did I read something weird?

What you found was 90% likely to be a scam, custom recoveries have to be built specifically for a device. If you flashed something for a different device you could possibly brick it corrupt your recovery partition.

Here is a Wiki on how to build a custom Cyanogen Mod.

In addition to that I was able to locate the source code for the Tmobile Alcatel Fierce 2 which is the 7040T.
The source code can be found here.

Can someone please call Alcatel and request the source code for the MetroPCS 7040N

Hello. I have this phone and I rooted it. I am now getting error message "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped." ... did i brick my phone?!?!?! I rooted it about a week ago and these messages started popping up every 3 seconds last night. I've tried all of the fixes online such as clearing caches and factory reset and nothing is working. please help :)

I get these too, no you are not bricked, I'm pretty sure this happens when you move an app that is not supposed to be moved to sd card for example hangouts does this all the time for me because I moved it to sd, try moving those apps back to internal storage

I don't think it's from moving any apps because now my sd card is virtually clean as I've wiped everything in an attempt to rid this. I did just discover tonight that the error message stops when wifi is off... and as far as going back to default, i'm not sure how to because i factory reset it. I did go in and unroot... i'm not sure if this made more of a mess of things because now I dont know how to access original files prior to wiping it. Thanks though, any outside thoughts are truly appreciated!!!

I considered installing a custom OS but it is legit scary & i do not want to hard brick my phone. i might call ifixit when they open... how embarrassing I used to be good at this stuff once upon a time. I did get as far as downloading ROM Manager and CWM but then CWM said something to the effect of "make sure this is for your device or it could be bad" and needless to say I wasnt willing to take the chance. I'm really just wishing i had never rooted this son of a ... not worth removing the bloater apps at this point

Root your device again. Run a logging app that will give you a bit more info what is causing the crash. From there once you verify what system file is causing it. I can email you my system files you copy them over and set the correct permissions and vuala all should be back to normal.

I removed a lot of it, i can try to list them based off of the list of pre-installed apps the t-mobile site gives me:
  • Adobe Reader
  • Amazon
  • Barcode Scanner
  • Compass
  • Drive
  • Email
  • Facebook
  • File Manager
  • Google Settings
  • Google+
  • Hangouts
  • Help Me
  • Movie Studio
  • Music
  • Notes
  • Photos
  • Play Books
  • Play Games
  • Play Movies & TV
  • Play Music
  • Play Newsstand
  • Play Store
  • Radio
  • Search
  • Sound Recorder
  • T-Mobile My Account
  • T-Mobile Name ID
  • T-Mobile TV
  • Twitter
  • Video Player
  • Visual Voicemail
  • Voice Dialer
  • Weather
  • YouTube

I'm pretty sure that's accurate. There may be one or two that I did not remove, but I'm pretty sure that's a good idea of what I "uninstalled" with App Master.
Thank you so much for your help. I have tried the first option in the link you provided with no success (deleted data from dialer app) so I'm guessing this will have to be a manual fix aka a trip down to the tech store so i don't brick it lol seriously though thank you SOOO much for your time :)

It's probably a missing app like the voice dialer that is causing the crash. If anything I can send you my backup files but you will need titanium backup pro.

Keep Google searching for "(low end device name) lollipop" and you'll see that site come up for almost all of them.

Hey guys, not sure why this thread was in the general rooting area instead of the Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2 root area, but I've moved it there so others with your device can more easily find it.

Cheers!
