Root Roms, google and contacts

It seems that everytime i flash a rom and set the rom up it multiplies my google contacts. I dont realy notice it with the sense roms because it links them but when i flash an aosp and it syncs i have several of each contact. Does anyone know how i can delete the duplicates off the google site where the contacts are stored? would that be my gmail acount??
Thanks.

You should be able to also 'link' the accounts on AOSP roms.

Also, if you log into your gmail account, you can manage your contacts from there. Pretty nifty. Or you could try to export the .vcf file and edit that manually (boring, and kind of confusing depending on what program you use...). I'd try gmail first.

I went to my gmail and its not showing duplicates. when i sync a new rom some of my contacts are in there like 9 times. Im getting tired of having to delete them all off the phone each time.

Hmmm not sure.

You could remove them, then back up the contacts to a .vcf file (export contacts to SD card), and then sync those contacts (import from SD card) when you go to the next rom.

Hope that helps.

I have the same problem. Most of my contacts are cross overs from my Nextel days, so they are on the phone only. I have to update those some day to Google contacts, so I don't have to restore from my SD backup.

Weird.

I haven't seen that one, On one rom I did see that I had duplicates of ringtones and notifications though. Can't remember which one it was though. Wasted space I guess, but I usually don't really get into messing with them much.

That being said, I was checking to see if I had either your or my previous issue with this Explod aosp rom. I don't. But I got to messing with the ringtone and notification sounds. They are pretty cool in this rom. May be the same in the other ones I have had, don't know, just know these are good.

Can you save them and use them in different roms? and what are the deleted ringtones and wallpapers folders all about? How do they get populated? I have never deleted any of them and have seen stuff in those folders. hmm...

^ I'm guessing you installed a sense rom that put all the notifs/ringer into a "removed" folder on the SD card, and then when you went to a different sense rom, it had the ringers still on it? Just a guess though.
