If by "hack" you mean root, the #1 reason I would root is to remove bloat (any apps installed by the carrier or OEM) and I am assuming your phone has Sense since it from HTC. Sense is crap IMO and the only want to get rid of it and all the negative side effects of it is to root and have a custom ROM.
The second reason I root is to install AdFree to get rid of ads in my apps.
Now I do not have your phone, and I have not even touched one for that matter so I do not know what bloat is on your phone. Just keep that in mind because evy phone is different.
Other advantages of rooting in general: boot animations, delete ringtones you don't use, screenshots, tethering, better backups etc....
