Rookie Root Worries

I'm new to Android Forums and I joined because I want to root my ZTE Warp from Boost Mobile. I have never done a root before and I have been doing a little homework by reading forums on the topic and feedback from others who have successfully rooted.

I'm a little nervous. I was wondering if someone could maybe explain "bricking" a phone. It scares me that I could possibly ruin my phone. Other than that, I think I will wait for a few responses before I attempt this.

Hi!

I actually was a guide (green guy, like DonB above) before I learned how to root. I had a DroidX (a hard phone to deal with as far as rooting goes).

A soft brick is when your phone won't boot up properly. Don't worry, you can always restore it to factory. This is why I tell folks to learn how to restore their phones beFORE they start messing with them.. make sense?

If you read, understand and follow the instructions for your phone the possibility of bricking your phone is next to non existent. Welcome and good luck.
