Root Root 2.2.1 with OS X?

Hi I was wondering if there is anyway for me to be able to root my phone via OS X or if any of the one click root apps work on 2.2.1? I don't have access to a windows computer anymore, not that I could get that to work, and I really would like to root my phone. I really need to remove that bloatware apps.

EDIT: I got it to root by following the tutorial here. I only rooted, is there anything else I should do after rooting? I was thinking of downloading the Rom Manager and backing up my Rom, just in case.

I do have one question about custom roms: If I flash a rom (Velocity for example) is it dual booted and do I have Velocity until I reflash the stock LG rom?

If you use Rom Manager use the flash alternate recovery option to flash RA_GNM Recovery 2.2.1
You can't dual boot on the Ally, if you flash Velocity you will have it untill you flash another ROM or restore a Nandroid.

Thank you for the response. Please forgive me ignorance, I haven't read into custom roms all that much, but what makes them so great? And is dual booting possible on any Android phone or is that not possible?
