Root Root alone made my phone run better?

Well I just performed the one click root using the sticky above. From what I understand a root alone will not make your phone run faster, just give you "root" access. I actually just finished my introduction thread where I b***hed about how my droid x is a slow pos, and thats why i joined here.

After the root alone my phone seems to be running MUCH better. Before, the maps app basically brought my phone to a stand still, now i can scroll around no prob. I WAS having a lot of trouble taking pictures and videos and then viewing them but now it seems to be working normally. I can view more complex web pages no problem. Any thoughts?

I did just run a quadrant standard benchmark and had a score of 1570...

I just rooted mine yesterday morning and deleted all the bloat from vzw and some crap I never use and my score is 1436 if that tells you anything.

I waited until I got home from work to delete the bloat and used the phone throughout the day and didn't notice any real change in speed or reaction.

After deleting the bloat though, I noticed my battery hasn't heated up yet and I haven't had to restart the phone yet which used to be a 2 or 3 time a day occurrence and my battery seems to be lasting longer. I generally like to give a device a few days worth of work before jumping to any conclusions but feeling how cool the device is reacting even after performing a benchmark a few times(the number i stated was the average of 3 tests in a row), if not for the crack across the middle of the screen, I've fallen in love with the phone again!

did you delete bloat or freeze it?

the recommended methods are as follows

1. freeze bloat using TiBu
2. rename bloat
3. make backups of the bloat then delete it.

the problem is if you just delete it and you were to just stay stock but rooted and another update came out ( even though that is not likely since the DX is so old now) you would not be able to take the update if you have those sys files missing.

anyways it may not be an issue for you but just so you know that is the low down on dealing with bloat.

Any thoughts?

There is nothing whatsoever about the root process that can change the performance of your phone.

The only thing it does that could help is reboot your phone - which you could do on your own.

Something else changed that wasn't the rooting process - all the rooting process does is use an exploit to elevate your privileges long enough to write the superuser.apk file.

My phone would be rebooted constantly becuase it would either freeze or run so slow I couldnt even use it.

Now freezing bloat would be perfect.....but im not too sur e what to freeze. I already have tibu and have been usimg it to remove wha i know i dont need but how do i know what i can freeze safely? Ive been readings all the stickys but havent seen what all can be shut down. Eventually I would like to flash a rom that just maked the phone more efficent. Thanks for the replies.

It was a sticky at one point, but they try not to overload the forums with stickies...

...but it is linked in the rooting guide.

i was thinking this, but at the same time i didnt care to post it, i figured if its faster o well, its faster haha.

but binary is right, there is no way root could have made this happen, but o well life goes on :)

Anything you know can be removed...can be frozen...freezing is much easier because it allows you to restore quickly if you cause any problems

On a related note, I found that frozen apps that I downloaded still get updates and remain frozen. So, I keep a lot of my apps frozen so they don't run processes in the background and they don't clutter up the app drawer. If I need it, then I can unfreeze it pretty quickly (quicker that re-installing).
