Hey folks. I just got an Evo 4G ( from PyroSporker ) and had it flashed to Metro PCS. I want to know if rooting is safe or will I have to re-flash to Metro . It cost me $65 for a total flash so I don't want to spend that again. Thanks for any help.

I think most of the Roms out there that are made for EVO are designed to be on a Sprint Network. Since I really don't know the Process Metro PCS uses to flash your phone I would not recommend you change it. However if you are able to do a nandroid backup (preferably using Amon RA) then You can try it out and see. IF it does not work then restore the backup and you should be fine.

I think if i spent 65 dollars on it I would ask them if I could root over it.

Well since all I want to do is root I don't really care about ROMs at this time. I just want to gain control of my phone. Root only.

if they flashed your phone i would think they would have had to root to do so. Just shutdown then hold the volume down key and then press the power key and see if you have S-off or S-on in your hboot

Titanium Back up can't gain Super User so I'm going to say no but I'll try the h boot. H boot is 2.16 and it is S on. I think that rooting will be okay but I want to make damn sure.

I have root!! Everything seems to be okay so I now know for sure that rooting does not affect the flash to Metro.:D
