Root Root didn't work apparently

Hello! I tried rooting my pone using the ingle click root (Windows) 4 times, following the instructions I found on unlockr, and several other forums (they all seemed to say the same thing). The reason I tried 4 times is that I read that it might not work the first few times. I never saw that superuser was installed after the root atttempts.

I was able to install superuser app from Google Play, and I had installed super atoolbox. So I used the file manager to go and delete some bloatware and they never get deleted. So I think my phone was never rooted. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Phone: Samsung Admire SCH-R720 with Android 2.3.4

Your, phone was most likely rooted, lol btwv that other app, the toolbox one you might want to delete and just use Titanium backup to debloat. The one click root method is the only way to root 2.3.4 and even though its suppose to install superuser it has never in my experiences. Always download it from the play store and make sure you update its binary. If apps ask for root permission then you got root. Of course that's only apps that require root

Thanks for the response! I'm updating the binary through the superuser app right now and it asked me for root, so definitely I got root, however, it seems to have crashed while doing so. (I clicked wait instead of force close). And I'm assuming I got to update the binary before I can debloat.

I keep trying to have the superuser app update its binary, and it gets as far as trying to install it, but it just freezes. I tried uninstalling 10 mb worth of apps to make sure my phone has a little bit more space, and tried it again, and still no go.

Any suggestions? I'm still unable to get the bloatware off of the phone.

Try SuperSU instead, see if that works for you. You can also download the Check Root app just to make sure that you actually have root. Once you have that sorted out to be on the safe side I usually try to freeze apps with Titanium Backup before I permanently delete them.

I downloaded the apps suggested, and I do have root, but SuperSU also failed to update the binary. It just says installation failed. Any ideas?

I've been doing some reading on ROMs, and honestly, I'm not entirely comfortable with that step yet. I'll do it if there is absolutely nothing else I can do.

But I've looked at other forums, and it seems the the Samsung Admire can be rooted and debloated just fine. Any other possible suggestions to get the superuser to update the binary successfully?

Yeah it can but if you're having trouble with rooting it would be better to install a rom (most roms are rooted anyways). The most you can get from messing up is a soft brick that you can easily recover from.

Hi!!

I tried to root use oneclick to root, ans many many others. And it always fails.

Using yours, it says that it fails to copy superuser, because is written protected.

Any thoughts??

cheers!

There's only two root methods for the admire. Any others won't work. What android version do you have?

Try this:go to the Odin thread and use dat method to install cwm on your phone then download a rom copy to SD card boot into cwm and voila !!! I do it all the time never fails and if you running the update follow the same steps for installing cwm then grab the new root from PlayGod(another thread) and boot into cwm and flash u will b rooted!
