Root root does not work

Newbie
I tried different ways to root my phone but my comp does not do it. is asking me for a cd after i click browse for the program .. i been fallowing step by step video ..as i do it but is not working .... can anyone help please:D
 
i tried using the unrevoked method but when i got to the bootmenu it wouldnt read the phone, and it only showed fast boot, recovery, sim lock, and one other thing but no hboot usb, Help, i am also running linux ubuntu
