Root Root + Eugene's Vibrant4 + Lag Fix = Amazing

you should see 2000+ even on a stock rom with the fix. I just saw whis vibrant4 update and Im passing on it... my vibrant4 rom is working great for me.
He put LP instead of ADW which I changed already and took out sims (which is actually working for me) I like the calender I have which he has changed also. the battery popup fix just plan dosent work but whatever not a big deal to me. and I could care less about the new camera settings.
soooo I will keep vibrant4 till something better than vibrant5 comes out.

I should have clarified in the OP. You can apply the lag fix alone and it will make your phone much faster.

I was just showing what I did in the OP, but you don't necessarily need to do all of that to get better performance.

I haven't tried this, but I'm wondering if he included it in Vibrant4 because my GPS is actually working very well now. So much in fact that I'm not sitting around hoping for a Samsung update.

Thanks for this thread and the additional info. :)

I tried Ryans lag fix and its not working. I have the phone set in debug mode and when i click the lagfixme.bat it says device can not be found? I have busybox 1.17.1 app installed and the phone is rooted. Any suggestions?

To those of you that are having trouble with the lagfix update.zip it definitely works but u have to do exactly as the instructions say and done forget after the phone reboots you have to go into your app drawer and click mrc apparently and you will have 3 options 1gig 512m and uninstall I used 512m and it's working great for me my benchmark scores are around 2200 vs 900 before so I know it works

On that same thread above for the Vibrant4 download there is a new Vibrant5 on there. Has anyone tried that one?

Im just reading for now but will try this when i get home on my own computer.

From my understanding is that with clockwork that i dont need to use the Odin application at all?

Hi total noob here, need major help.
I rooted and clockwork mod my phone yesterday. got the superuser and actually delete a couple useless files (very happy). Noticed that i was missing the busybox. SO today i wanted to do Tayutama's lag fix followed the instructions but when i got to "hold down up+power+menu" nothing came up except vibrant/samsung and i'll keep holding for 1-2minutes still vibrant/samsung. so i tried couple things like i figured i needed to delete the initial update.zip file from my initial root cuz theres 2 including yours. so i deleted and retried and still nothing. I also debug and tried again still no good. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Should i not delete my initial update.zip file? DO it need to debug before restarting my phone. Does my phone need to be connected to my pc cuz i unplugged it. Please help ANYONE.

So, you do not need to be rooted to apply the lag fix?

Can someone verify that for me? I want to apply it to my girl's Vibrant today.

Thanks!

Haha no it's okay, we were all newbies at one time too. I would highly recommend just taking some time to research before doing anything. I probably should have posted this in the root section, but I assumed people avoided that section if they didn't bother to root.

Anyways, here are the steps:

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Always have USB Debugging turned on (Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging)

Root your device: xda-developers - View Single Post - Root your Vibrant

Clockworkmod recovery information is here: [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for Vibrant (FINAL! SAFE!) - xda-developers

The steps are pretty simple, but to get started, download Rom Manager from the market, and go from there. When in Rom Manager, select "Flash ClockworkMod Recover FIRST. The steps in the above links are pretty simple to follow.

Get used to using this if you want to dive into the realm of flashing custom stuff to your phone. ClockworkMod Recovery makes this process so simple, plus it will be necessary since all of the devs use it.

Once you have that installed and can successfully boot into clockwork's download mode (recovery), you're ready to install the Vibrant4 ROM which is located here: (Rom) Vibrant4 Eclair 2.1 flashable .zip * 8/8/2010* - xda-developers (Thanks to Eugene373/BH_MAN) Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Once you have successfully done that, you're ready to apply the lag fix. Information on the easiest way to do this is here: [UTIL] One Click Lag Fix - xda-developers (Thanks to RyanZA)

Once you've done this, run Quadrant from the market and check your score. Stock Vibrants typically get ~900 scores. If the lag fix worked, you should be close to mine.

If you need help, ask around. I'll try to help, but there are people much better at this than myself, but I think this is the best way to really enjoy your phone, so I'd love to help.

Edit: I can't stress this enough, but if you like your phone and your wallet, please take the time to read everything you can before attempting anything. The better understanding you have of this stuff, the better off you'll be. It's hard to screw this up if you follow instructions carefully and ask questions.

can i apply these instructions for galaxy s? i am in europe (italy). i already have downloaded all necessary files stated above, i guess i'm ready but hesitated becaused this is for vibrant. to my coworkers, the phone is fast enough (859) for the benchmark but to me it seems slow. besides, daily briefing always force close and doesn't run anymore.

need some help

rooted my galaxy s (europe version), downloaded cloclworkmod and was able to reboot to recovery. put vibrant4.zip on /sdcard/ but phone says cannot find update.zip. do i have to unzip the file downloaded from 4shared and copy to internal sd card? what specific folder? or shall i put it in folder named /sdcard/clockworkmod/

thanks

Just flashed this--Still only getting 895 Quad score...same Rom and lagfix. Any suggestions? Rooted, but installed rom then fix back to back on clean slate.

**Don't get me wrong--everything is snappy as can be, but the quadrant score is a lil disappointing.

Ok another newb here, so first question what are you using to find your benchmark I want to try that first before I start rooting my phone, also can you tell me the diffrents between vibrant4 and vibrant5

DL Quadrant from the market...as for differences--I used the 4 just because it was in the post.

Maybe they are better updated versions? I didn't want to just guess so I took the OP at face value and did not deviate. Someone more enlightened will probably chime in with more info.

I did the same steps on my Vibrant but when I run the quadrant I'm only coming back with 869. I did both in the exact same order too. :/ any suggestions?

There has to be something we either missed, or has been changed since the OP...I dunno, was hoping one of the earlier posters would come back.

Search on the market for "lag fix". The one the OP posted is deprecated. The one in the market is the newer version by the same author.

Best one I found so far is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781456&highlight=failed+data+wipe

Please note this is NOT for the faint-heart as it is Beta. Took me a few tries to get this right and I thought I bricked it. But no more weird stalls from time to time. Quadrant score is lower, about 1700-1800, but definitely better.

I cant get scores like that no matter what I do. I am running the custom rom and installed the update lag fix and still no luck

Nevermind got it working. Now I am bummed though havingnread that installing a ROM voids warranty. Oh well can cancel insurance now I guess
