Root Root exploit = easier rooting without having to flash the whole firmware

Thanks giantpune and Hashtag.I finally figured out what exploit to download and where to put the files and run them.I now have a rooted phone.Thank you for all your hard work in making this guide..jwiMT

Hey guys, I tried this on Windows 7 and got to the part where I restart the phone. As said, I did get stuck in a boot loop. However, when I did a battery pull to get out of the boot loop and turned the phone on again, it still was stuck in a boot loop.

I ended up having to do a factory reset and lost all of my data (I backed up what I could). I find it ironic that the main reason I was trying to root the phone was so I could back everything up with Titanium Backup. Anyways, I knew what I was getting into when I started, but just want to warn people that just because its a lot shorter and simpler looking than the original method, it is still not to be considered "safe"; there is still a good deal of risk involved

EDIT: I tried it twice more, once using the programs provided to enable DIAG mode (same as before) and got the same boot loop. It would show the virgin mobile animation, show the last frame for ~10 seconds (as it normally does when turning on), then black out for a half second, then show the animation again. The other time I tried it I turned on DIAG mode manually (I know my MSL). When I did this, it was the same boot loop except right before the black screen it showed the lock screen for a half second.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears

You are supposed to continue along with the instructions even while the phone is stuck in its boot loop. Pulling the battery isn't supposed to make that stop. You continue on with the instructions and when you do "rm /data/local.prop" and then reboot the phone, it fixes the boot loop.

You lost all your data because you didn't read the instructions carefully.

Been waiting giantpune to help me with the Sprint version, been waiting a while. Said he had some stuff to do, be like and hour or so, but its been alot longer than that. I have the newest version from srint, got it 2 days ago. Hashtag tried to help for two days and nights, but no luck. Sprint has changed something and we cant figure it out. When Zidag is used, none of the drivers show up correctly. And the exploit doesnt work without em. So... if anyone else wants to help us out on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Im running vista, and ubuntu 12.04. HMU if and when you wanna give it a shot. Thanks

I'm having trouble compiling the exploit program on 32 bit Debian Wheezy.

root@woozles:~/rootIt/rootIt# make
main.cpp
linking lgoeExploit.debug
g++: error: unrecognized command line option ‘-Wl’
make[1]: *** [/root/rootIt/rootIt/lgoeExploit] Error 1
make: *** [build] Error 2
root@woozles:~/rootIt/rootIt#

The link to the precompiled binary seems to be broken too. What do the -Wl flags do, and what can I do to fix the error (or can I remove them)?

This is outdated. Find the thread about rooting eith an apk. (An app you put on your phone and run in case you dont know)

Neither lgoeExploit.exe nor lgoeExploit.apk is available at those links. "File removed and cannot be restored." any ideas for where to get it now?
