got the replacement from the corperate store
just flashed this and this time unchecked the "re-partition". everything went well. so gitman, go for it

From what I see, its the new prl update. 3027 seems to be a bit of a problem. does anyone know how I can downgrade back to 3026 on this phone?

yeah i had pretty decent service before the prl update so i am in the same boat looking for a drowngrade of prl
 
Anyone flashed w/ Heimdall (on Ubuntu) yet? I wouldn't imagine any issues but figured I'd check before hand, ya know sometimes these things like to be picky...

Try snagging the Odin prl files from the admire forum and follow the guide there to put whatever prl you want.
 
Posting this from my Samsung Attain 4g that is now successfully rooted!!!! Thank You to all devs involved in the rooting of this awesome little phone. Also thanks to all who had a hand in bringing this to the attention of the heavy hitters. Without them, namely Tokenpoke and Chiwen, if I recall correctly, this device would not be rooted at all. Cant say thank you enough. If someone would be so kind as to explain to me how to donate I will gladly keep my word. I have never donated before so any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

I agree... I just make noise, its these guys that make the magic.

I don't test much anymore...not much time these days, my guide work is done in winter or if I'm injured, other than that I just climb trees and plant trees like any good semi-hippie ought to.

Thanks for the shouts, but all credit is due to the hit squad. All I did was go to the people I knew that could get this done. Shabby and k0nane are the shit man, and the people that work with them. Once they got involved it took them no time to do it.

Funny thing is I haven't even done this yet lol. I didn't realize it was done until this morning. I'm here everyday but I was only looking at the posts I've posted in through tapatalk lol, so I didn't see the official root thread. Doh!!

Everyone that can donate should; we owe it to them. Without our amazing devs we would have nada. We need to show them appreciation. I know shabby said to donate all to bliss, but I'm going to donate to both. In my eyes, without shabby this would not have happened for us. K0nane too.

All amazing people, lets thank them with the thanks button and our wallets.
 
i hate to break it to you guys, but we arent done :/

just cuz there is root doesnt mean that we can call it a day.. still need to get a true dump of the partitions, and then we also need to get some other things rolling.. of which we need testers for :O

we dont have the phone so we rely on you guys.. chop chop :P

Shabby, I'm willing to test whatever. I might not always be able to jump in the irc, but I'm always online. You can dropbox me whatever you need tested.

Overclock kernal would be awesome. (No pressure!! Lol)

The os stays the same. Only thing this tar changes is your factory files. All of your download apps, data and settings stay exactly as they are before the flash. Your phone will still be stock, but rooted.

Basically, using Odin to flash this roots your phone and installs busybox and superuser. Other than that nothing changes, so you don't need to back up anything, all your apps and account settings will remain.

As stated before .. check and CHECK AGAIN during the process that the repartition box in odin is NOT checked. It seems to check itself after you load the pit and tar files, so I repeat, MAKE SURE REPARTITION IS NOT CHECKED BEFORE YOU HIT START ON ODIN.

It will brick your phone 100% of the time and we don't know how to fix it after that yet. Just looking out for ya bro, a couple of people have bricked this way already because it was checked and they didn't realize.
 
I cant get the phone to come up on Odin. The ID:COM box wont take my phone. I can't get it to pop up. I've used different cords, Rebooting, Mass Storaging. Can't figure it out

Did you install the phones USB drivers on your computer? They're downloadable from Samsung. Also, did you make sure your phone is in USB debug mode?

Also, you have to put your phone in download mode before you plug it into your PC. You will know if its in download mode from your phone screen. Its very obvious lol.
 
Yeah the drivers are installed when i plug my phone In normally i can get to all my filds but once i power it down then press home+ power+ volume down it doesnt register anymore

can you try power + vol up + Vol down? it seems to respond a bit better when I was testing it.
 
my computer will not let me download the pit file. Is there another way to get the pit file so i can root my phone

I see no reason why it wouldnt let you download a pit file, did you try right clicking it and save it? anyway, you can also download using your phone and save it on your SD card and then copy it to your computer.
 
i usually don't say much of anything, but you guys are f%$#ing AWESOME! I've been a longtime iPhone user, and just switched to android last year with the Ascend, Admire, and now the Attain. This may well be the BEST handset I've eer had, and one of the best on the market considering that a root has been found! FREE METRO 4G HOTSPOTS FOR ALL!!
