Root root for vv4???

Guys, today my phone stopped working again. What happens is that the touchscreen stops working I can't unlock the screen or select any buttons or anything, this is what happened to my other phone (that I had for almost a year with the same sd card) 4 days ago and now this one did the same thing. I got another replacement today from Metro PCS but the guy there said that I must have a virus or malware on my micro sd card that is making this happen he said to erase my card and start over but I have a 32GB card and I hate to do that I have a bunch of stuff on it. Is there a PC app that will scan my card and all the archived files from Titanium backup, videos, pics, etc and let me know what is the problem? I am even scared to put my card back in my phone until I can scan it somehow. This really blows! It must be something that I added probably a week or so ago but I would have no idea what it would be.

Could it be the Android App SuperSU cause after I root it I change the superuser app to superSU or could it be Juice Defender or the profiles that I set up in ROM Toolbox to save my battery cause both phones acted up after I did this http://androidforums.com/connect-4g...p-guaranteed-drastic-battery-improvement.html

Any suggestions will be great! I'm about to downgrade again to vv3 and root my phone and then I will check back on here.

Thanks guys!

Well I scanned my card and phone and I have No Virus or Malware! So this can only leave one option, The "Drastic Battery Improvement TIP"! So watch out if you try it!

If you're running VV3 you can't. All of the custom kernels you can find here like Plague, Blitzkrieg and #2 speed are ZVA based, and can be used with ZVA based stock or custom ROMs. Flashing any of those to VV3 is a guaranteed soft-brick! ;)

False I'm running plague on Miami's vv3 rom

Well Zandersig there's your answer LOL. I've tried those kernels on ZV8, ZV9 and VV3 and got a soft brick every time. It never hurts to try flashing it, just use a backup in case it is a dud ;) Also, I've never used MiamiGuy's ROM, but do clearly remember plain VV3 did not like Blitzkrieg kernel, but it was killer on stock ZVA :D

Thanks Jlede! Maybe we can get sammyz or D-U-R-X to revive and consolidate the 840 Kernel thread with this info?

Very Interesting, we now have conflicting answers to my original question...

Conflicting, yes but easy to check if the kernel you want will work with VV3. Just flash whichever one you want and see if your phone starts up. If not, go to recovery and restore a backup file, if you made one yet with VV3 (HOPE YOU DID!!) :D:D:D:D

Yes I made a backup with cwm the backup I made was of the vv3 stock rom with all the bloatware plus it was rooted. I just ran the vv3 debloater by miamidude? It worked great! But I'm tired of having to re-do my phone plus I bricked 2 of them using that crazy battery tip for some reason the touchscreen went out on both phones using that tip the phone would come on but the touchscreen would not work. Teed me off both times. I just wanted to add a speed kernel to my stock vv3 rom so I could get a little overclock when I needed it. I think I'm going to stay where I am for awhile until someone comes out with a do and don't thread for vv3. Right now I have my LG Connect with vv3 rooted and it's mostly debloated and I have cwm touch installed. I guess I will keep it like this until more info comes out.

One more question can I use rom toolbox pro to change my icons and startup screen or does it have to be zipaligned or deoxed (I have no idea what those words mean)?

Thanks Spec2nirvash for all the information and help!

Maybe some more roms will come out based on vv3. I really despise these companies that think they still have total control over the hardware and software after we buy it just like Sony with the ps3, etc..... It's mine now and I should be able to do whatever I want to do with it but they make it so hard by changing firmware and stuff! Thank God for hackers!!
