Root {ROOT} Incredible...Please close thread.

Just got finished playing with it at the verizon store...trying to wait until next week (i CANNOT wait until the 16th)!
im pulling the trigger on 5/5/10 on wirefly.com for $149 and $50 off using bing check out :)

Really? $50 off for using Bing??? OK....I was about to post you about the early new every 2 thing you told me about was a total wash at both a store and on the phone, but another $50 off may swerve me (still losing $50, but I think I can deal....sound familiar LOL).

How does wirefly work as far as activation and your VZW contract?

anyways, i have a family plan and i may have filled some info out incorrectly BUT!
if all goes well i should have it saturday!!!
i tried on verizonwireless.com but it didnt work.
total is $149. the $50 cash back thing is cumbersome...i may or may not get it in 60 days in my BING ACCOUNT!
so...not sure what i can do with bing cash but.
either way $149 is way less than i planned to pay for it ($200 + early upgrade $20). so...now is the waiting game. i have a feeling i wont get it until next week but even thats better than waiting on verizon!
they said it wont even ship until 5/4!
and boy genius is reporting they sold out in 2 hours!!
this phone is HOT!!
which is why i pulled the trigger today :D
 
This needs to come out quickly....I used barnacle all the time on my motorola droid, I need the same for this phone....NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as over clock is concerned, I have never really been a big fan of it...and I am sure we will be able to, but I agree with you it might be rather pointless...

Yeah that's what i was thinking...now the phone has some more ram to back it up and i finally got my hands on one earlier today n it was fast as shit anyways..like the sense on it..not in to big of a rush to get a new rom on it will just enjoy it as is for a while because of the speed of the device...but i know when this gets rooted there can be alot of shit that can happen if the HTC sense/protection isn't to hard to get past n write on...because the impression i'm getting on all this is that is easier said than done on this device...

k....I did it!!!!!


I went to my local VZW store (not a corporate one) and did an alternate upgrade on another line (switch it to mine when I get home). They have a promotion where I leave a deposit and on Saturday the store gets the Incredibles in and for the $199 I get the Incredible, a car charger, a case and a bluetooth headset (a $125 value package).

In doing the alternate upgrade I still save my new every 2 credit for another line to use in three months, so it is a win-win!!

I still have about a day and a half to wait though....ugh LOL

take an inventory of the apps u use the most. i am sure its at least 3 to 4 different versions of them in the market lol!!
backup your contacts in google, and get ready for the ride!! :D
 
It's funny....most of the advice you gave me I have been doing for the past week or so already!!! All my apps are in my Google email account, I'm working on my calender (can't figure out how to import them yet) and I have been saving apps like crazy to download. Trying to stay with the free ones, but I am getting there (and open to any/all suggestions).

My main learning curve will be in the functions I will be looking/hoping for, such as if there are repeating alerts, if the alerts show on the lock screen, if appointments show on the lock screen....you get the idea!!!

lol congrats man i've been seein you guys goin back n forth on the issue glad to see you finally did it..i can tell you were dying already by not having it imagine another 3 months lol...im getting mine bright n early tom so see how it goes...i've played with it for a while n it's pretty sick

Yeah...I figured I wouldn't be sane in three months if I didn't....it would be one thing if I were a year-or-so out, but that close....no!!!!!

I saw you over @ XDA, and like you said to acidbath....I'm seeing you all over now LOL!!!!

Ha i kno...just got my inc today...writing from it right now...really smooth phone
 
Other than a few root exceptions like maybe being able to enable 720p, I could wait for the rooting for sometime... this phone is a beast of a phone and I am loving every minute of this... we should sit back and let the devs do what they do best I am sure it will be here sooner than later but as of now sit back and play with this media center of a phone :)
 
simply to be able to use setCPU would make rooting worth it, i'm having a very difficult time managing this battery on my own.

I have been sorta halfass messing with some root options for our incredible...A couple Devs I know from Eris and other Android devices are looking into it as well.
I have a WinMo project I have to finish first though.....
Then I will devote all my time to root if not done yet...or a kitchen I have half done that is Nexus One/HTC Sense hybrid.

I am loving this Stock ROM though.

k...i was following some of the devs n seems like right now they're tryin to get a current recovery image..because i guess the only rec image they have is off an older version and i think off a different device and the fact that verizon doesn't have sim cards that's making the gold card trick a little more complicated...n shit sucks w/o a cust recovery

That's a little summary for people that are still wondering what's going on as always correct me if i'm wrong

How to get the URL for the OTA zip the following way:

Run logcat on the pc and accept the update on the phone

$ adb logcat > logcat_accept.txt

This will sit like this (it continues to log output into the output file) until the phone reboots. At that point, the adb logcat job will terminate, and the name of the zip file will be indicated in the logfile in a message similar to:

W/SystemUpdateHelper( 64): !!! REBOOTING TO INSTALL /cache/



You should see a link in the file like https://android.clients.google.com/u.../partner/*****

Did you guys see the Droid Incredible by HTC(Verizon) Kernel Source Code is now available? I don't know if this will help at all but its available for download. I'm sure someone has already noticed this but i figured it couldn't hurt, just in case.
