There are a bunch of people working on getting root in the irc channel #Droidincredible on freenode. All help is appreciated of course.

i know over at xda on the devs thread they are working on it..last post put up there was a day or so but they'll get it eventually...i personally love the phone as is once we get rooted you can do quite a few more things and it would be a lil faster but this thing is fast as shit as is

Yeah it'll come soon enough, its not even been out a full week yet. I'm sure they'll do everything possible to gain root access and i personally am very grateful for their efforts and sacrifices.

Oh excuse me. You asking about it every day and asking if they are even working on it is not being childish is it? Grow up and leave this thread alone unless you have something positive to add to it. I'm sick of impatient children ruining perfectly good threads in this forum.

Couldn't agree more. 90% of the threads in the inc. forum start off great, then turn into complete garbage after 3-4 posts. Really wish the mods would stop deleting and start banning these kids.

everyone is probably just anxious because the desire was easy to root and most assumed the incredible would be the same. I too am very grateful for these people spending their free time doing such great work, but I would like some type if status. not looking for anything major, just maybe a "hey, we've tried 3 exploits and all are a no go" or something like that.

idk if this is what the devs want, it's what they asked for but i can't seem to get an answer as to if anybody still wants this

The best way to get updates is usually at XDA or in the irc room. From my experience CDMA phones generally take longer to root as they might not attract as many devs since they are carrier locked and us only. If this thread gets to OT use the report button and a Mod can clear up the junk.

FWIW, the Desire was released on 4/1... it was rooted on 4/28.

The Incredible was released 4/29. Following that logic, we need to wait 20 more days before complaining :-)

Seems to me that if HTC wanted to dress the stock battery in hooker red, the least they could have done was throw the red dress on a 1750.

oh I agree, these things take time... allow me to rephrase. people assumed the desire root method would work for the incredible and haven't yet accepted the fact that the incredible is a very different animal. hope that clears up my position.

Fair enough. My bad for misunderstanding you.

We are working on Root, havent had to much time myself lately as I am still finishing up some WinMo projects I was helping with and just life in General.
But if you can help Dev or any some fashion please check out the first post and go to one IRC Channel or XDA and offer your help.
Also everyone please remeber to also offer your encouragment and thanks to the Devs that are working.

Cheers!

I appreciate all the hard work to root this phone. I'm looking forward to Wifi tethering with barnacle again once this is finished. I like to tether to my ipad and barnacle is the only way I know of....

I'm looking forward to trying that app when I get root.

when this is rooted, will it keep all the same features of the OS? Like will sense UI still be included and everything?

Having root is basically like being the "administrator" on windows or... as the name suggests "root" on a *nix system. So you pretty much are at will to install, uninstall, change anything on the phone. Naturally the phone has some of its settings/applications locked so that you dont inadvertantly uninstall/install something that may be harmful/enable something that the carrier would prefer you pay for.

So yes, having a rooted phone would essentially be the same exact phone with a little less restraint on what you can do.

Yea I was aware of that. I rooted my moto droid and put barnacle on it to tether it to my ipad. I bought the incredible with hopes of doing the same. Haha...so I'm completely aware of what rooting is...I just wanted to be clear that I wouldn't lose any functionality with an altered ROM. Thanks for your help.
