USE THIS BEFORE YOU UPDATE

This is how it works: you must be on 2.3.4, you must be rooted already, then you must run this program to protect your root, then you must upgrade only by doing the over the air update, then you run this program again and restore your root

Now I guess what I am reading is that you cannot have cwm installed otherwise the o t a update does not take place, so if you have cwm installed you might need to odin back to get it removed, we can odin back just the restore partition

ok... testing...

i have cwm, root, MrReeRom 0.4+.... so i need to remove cwm beacase everyone is saying that ota update will not work will cwm...

backed up phone with cwm
rebooted into download mode (v. down + cam + power)
executed odin (Odin: Odin Multi Downloader v4.43 - Minus)
checked one package
browsed for .ops (Transform Ultra Odin ops file: TransformUltra - Minus)
browsed stock recovery for odin (Stock recovery: tu_stock_recovery - Minus)
clicked start.... all went fast about 15 seconds
phone auto reboots
all looks good!
rebooting into recovery to see if cwm is there..... nope ... blue is stock!
*** phone hung on reboot from recovery... pull battery... replace, press power... start no problem***
wait for sd card read (32gb takes time, only downside)
ROOT IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO!! ( [ACS]Root for Transform Ultra)
now run OTA RootKeeper... (Here be the program .... Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper .... )
click 'protect root'
now do the ota update.

..... ummm where did my update go?


. a little help on where i find this thing... it was harasing me this morning????
its not in cache...???


***add*** well im stuck at this point because i can not find the update on my phone and settings-about phone-system updates-update sammsung software- sais 'you system is up to date'

soooooo... i guess i will keep my phon at this stage until i get the update again

yeah, I got the update notification once a day or two ago, hit ignore, and havent seen it since. perhaps they are refining (updating) the update? I checked for updates and could not find any. I am looking forward to checking out this method though once i recieve the update notification again .

the OTA is in /sdcard/SystemAndroid/ ...at least thats where mine is...i didnt put it there and that folder was never there before i got the update notification...i just got it to day but have not updated just keeps bugging me...anyways i saved a copy just in case they try to delete it off my phone they wont get the copy...Im on sprint so if anyone wants the sprint update ill upload...

Thanks... however it somehow got completely removed from my phone completely ...
Just looked for that folder and it does not exist on my sdcard .... blah all well

Well they did a good job of removing it if it was there. I did a data recovery found a s**t load of deleted files and folders but nothing with that name.


Edit: As I was typing this the phone was rebooting and the notification came back but no luck in finding this file. I too am on the sprint network.

***Or should I do the update let it fall because I am rooted and with CWM then find the folder with files

I am finding a lot of new stuff under the dev/block/ and it seems to be the same as the samsung admire. The notification said it is downloaded and is 39mb.

Follow the instructions here for cwm, the file can be found in the odin post but if you don't delete the file mentioned in this post cwm will just be overwritten.
