Root Root my phone for coin

I would love to root my phone but to be completely honest I am freaked out about the whole process. Call me what you want, but I will pay a "professional" to do it for me. So if you live in Jacksonville, FL or the surrounding area and want some extra cash and you can give me a "Scout's honor" you won't brick my phone hit me up.

Just make sure that if you pay someone to do it they agree to replace it if they brick it. It's no different than paying for any other service...

To be honest you can probably go on youtube and find a really good walk through vid to help you do it. You'll save yourself some cash and learn how to do it yourself. That way you're not dependent on someone else if you ever want to change things on your phone. Members on this forum here are all really helpful. Feel free to ask questions.

Only it will be one person, not an insured company with a large amount of capital to help offset the potential cost of one bricked phone. If I were to get $50 for a successful root but risk having to pay $400 (what do these things cost?) if something went wrong, I'd pass on that gig.

Exactly my point.

Back when I was doing car stereo for a hobby I would do things for friends for free but always passed on doing it for strangers that wanted to pay me for it because when you're charging you are liable to fix what breaks. He could find someone willing to help for free that wouldn't have liability but if he hands the phone to someone with a $50 bill wrapped around it they should guarantee their work.

If you'd pass (and I'm on your side, don't get me wrong) then you're not the person he should pay to do it for him.

If you want to pay someone to root your phone because your freaked out about it, then I would say don't root. There is valuable information that needs to be learned in the root process. Now let's say you do get someone to root for you, if something goes wrong down the road you will have no clue what's going on or how to alleviate the problem. If I were you, I would just keep reading up and asking questions. Trust me we were all there at one point. There is no reason to rush the process. :)

This, IMO, is excellent advice!


Perhaps someone local to the OP can meet up with him and walk through the process with him so he learns along the way :)
 
Dude you can totally do it. You really can't kill the phone there is Almost always a way to bring it back. Step by step root first and then flash. Go over to xda they have alot of video and walkthroughs, just pay attention, when your done you will be amazed how easy it was. Use roms that you can use with rom manager then its cake. Post back with questions and whatever you need. You CAN do it. We got your back.
 
Unrevoked makes it beyond easy, you can even watch someone on youtube doing it at the same time as you are
 
If you can double click you can do it. That simple with the new unrevoked. From a linux perspective anyway. I am sure windows is just as easy.
 
Rooting is not hard to do. Read the instructions, then read them again, and read again, then if you still are uncertain, read it again. Unrevoked is a piece of cake. A couple of clicks and you are good to go. Once rooted you can use Rom Manager to try different roms til you are comfortable flashing in recovery. Lots of help available here if you need it too......I have learned tons from just reading about problems and solutions to them.
