I can only answer a few of the questions right now as I don't have the phone with me. I flashed the stock deodexed rom that was posted on the site. I installed Root Explorer. I don't have the option to mount as r/w or r/o for that matter. When I try to open system folders it says I'm not rooted.

No problem on the delay. I haven't had access to a computer in a few days to check this anyway. Like I said, there is no rush on this at all. Just a minor annoyance. Once I get a hold of the phone, I'll try some things.
 
Hi, I don't mean to be a pest, but have y'all forgot about my question? I was wondering if anyone had bought the phone with 2.3.6 already installed & rooted? I know several already have root & upgraded. Do you think I'm going to have to go down to 2.3.4 to get this rooted? I'm grasping at straws here I really need to get to my build prop :confused:

I don't want to go down to 2.3.4 I was just asking if I had to so I could get this phone rooted. I don't understand why it won't root. Like I said, when I rooted the first one I had to try several times, but with this one I tried for hours two different days. I'm sure it's something simple staring me right in the face but I'm so aggravated I can't see it. Which is why I posted.

I've tried using all 3 links on the first page . The one that just says download , then the windows direct mirror & mirror 2 I think I'm going to go try again but disable mobile lookout security first

ok, this is what i did. i downloaded the first windows mirror & opened it with zip. you know how the instructions have always said on windows to run the bat file? well i didn't. i extracted the whole shebang to a new folder and when i did so the bat file wasn't there so i just clicked "run" and voila, i now have root!!! oh, i turned off my anti virus too, because i read somewhere in this 8 page thread to try that. i swear, i'm new to this forum but i am not a noob and this had me stumped!! now i have to figure how to wifi tether without the metro policies coming up and blocking me. it did so last time even after i changed my build prop. it doesn't do to my roommate who has the lg esteem. i wonder if it has something to do with the tower you get your signal from??:D

PdaNet -- USB Tether/Bluetooth DUN for Android

There you go. On the new version there is a trial period. If you can somehow obtain the full version without paying(Or with paying) then you're good to go. The only thing that happens when the trial period runs out is it blocks access to secure websites. Glad to see you got it rooted. :D

I will try this after I tweak my build props. Last time I was using Easy wifi tether because that is what my roommate uses & he said, that's the one you want. Last night I did try to USB tether with PDAnet for non root users. I got jack fiddly squat. My roommate can run his iPad, his wife's laptop & the house desktop all at the same time from his esteem. If I ever gather up the $$$ to replace my cracked laptop screen, I will just buy my own internet card for it. I know card isn't the word I'm trying to say, but since my brain surgery, sometimes I can't think of the right word. I wish Acer would just sell me a screen & ship it to me.
Oh well, I'm off to remove bloatware & do some tweaking. I thank y'all so much for your help. I should have joined long ago instead of just being a lurker!

Lol didn't know about that one. I'll have to try it out later.

Edit: Do you think boosting 3g would work on the m835? I read that thread when it was posted, but didn't want to try it for fear of breaking something.
 
if you get no 3g then restore to mobile ip. but when you change ips (mob/simple) it should take 5.min for it to show up. then you should try rebooting, and see if it takes a long time to load 3g again. there is a fix that you put your spc data so it can connect to it faster.
 
i have been getting 3G off and on. When i go down to 1X I just run Fresh Network Pro and it goes back up to 3G. I fixed my tethering problem just by adding a user agent switch to firefox. it's not my favorite browser, but it will work. i'm having trouble now with the fact that everytime i'm in titanium backup or root tools my phone vibrates and then i get a popup message saying that google play is foreclosing, over and over again. when my first admire was stolen it didn't have the sd card in it. i had taken it out to make copies of some pics and forgot to put it back in. (i forget a lot of things) so i noticed that a lot of my apps think i'm running 2.3.4. i wonder if this is why? i'm going to try unistalling and then reinstalling back. i hope that is the simple answer

Okay I have done exactly what you said to do .

Only I didn't realize that the directory changed. To User admire-- This is when I drop the file again then type ./admire_root.sh and it rooted the phone turned off and I freaked.. Thank YOu OS MUCH!!!!!

hey every or anyone ive been very anxious to root my admire but am encountering a problem okay here it is:
i run the run.bat.
file error: unknown host service

error: device not found

"[*] Rebooting phone. It may buzz a lot and loop on boot. Don't panic."
then it doesnt reboot or anything i have debuuging on and phone is in charging mode please help me?!??

Welcome to AF:D
Go into add remove programs on your computer and remove the Samsung drivers. No biggie if you don't though. Give this a shot..link within a link:)

okay i think u were refering to the post where u instructed to do the adb app the bat. file i tried and still no luck but i am determined to figure this out lol
