ok so i have found out a very easy way to root the optimus v from virgin mobile no more having to use the adb and command prompts and what not....i havee downloaded the gingerbreak apk for my triumph and decided to try it on the optimus v and it worked it is now rooted and i have superuser rights so easy just a push of a button. Thanks to the android exploid crew who make the apk...just go to the xda site and download it from there then download it on your computer or phone and install it....now what u do to your phone is your own bizzness so the android exploid crew nor do i take any responsible for any damage to your device.
