Root Root OTA

What new updates?

Not really, as Froyo is not rootable currently, so once you upgrade, you have to downgrade again to root. If it's froyo you want (please clarify)? there are better things you can do.
 
na i have 2.2 but there is a new update that is a fix for 2.2 that is OTA. the resson why is coz i got a custom rom or 2.2 on there it is saved to the memory card and if i remove it the phone will not start up. but if i got the 2.2 OTA update that would be stored to the phone correct?

All custom roms are stored on the phone itself. Its not possible not to be.

If removing the SD card stops it booting, then there is another issue perhaps? Are you using a2sd+?

All I can think is that there is other stuff on your card that Froyo wants in order to boot. Maybe some apps?
 
well is there anyways i can put it to OTA 2.2 and then get the new keybored then adn i will wait till the root is avaliable for the 2.2
 
Firstly, what version are you running on now? Go to Settings>About phone>Software information

If it's 2.09.405.8 you can either get the OTA update (Settings>About phone>System software updates) or get the full RUU file (which will reset your phone) form here:

Shipped ROMs

The RUU you want is this:

RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe

If going down the RUU route, you'll need your phone to be connected with HTC Sync and then just run the file

Yes it is the 2.09.405.8 but when i get the ota update and then go to install i get a triangle on my phone screen so it dose not work :(

Right i have custom rom on the phone with 2.09.405.8 i jsut went to cheack for update and it says one is there that is the new froyo update with better keybored and fix for the OS. i then download it and go to install it but it comes up with a triangle when tryign to install it. i dont have a gold card in my phone

Noooooo. You don't check for the update. You cant get OTA when rooted. Download what Eddy OS said onto your computer, connect with htc sync and run the file you downloaded.

I believe when you install an RUU, you will lose everything. It will be like a new phone, only on the latest version.

Download mybackup pro free trial and backup what you can. If you have google contacts and google calendar sync DO NOT back up contacts or calendar

ok thanks for your help so when i do this update i will loose the root and have to wait for the new root to be running
 
New root isn't far away (you can get the new unrEVOked release candidate from their IRC channel if you wanna try it). I've already rooted my stock 2.10.405.2 ROM and it worked first time in W7 x64 Ultimate

If not, just wait for the final release to come out and do it then :)

oh right well will try get hold of that and a other thing is it me or do u lot have problems with sd card like some times says read only when i takes pics and vid they are not there after and stuff like that ?
 
The new unrevoked3 (3.2) will probably work but there is a chance that it will permanently brick the phone. Until the final stable release comes out, the best way is to downgrade the software and use unrevoked 3.14.

I've not noticed anything but then again I don't take many photos/videos...
