I just did an alarm test. It went off just fine but it automatically snoozed for 10 minutes. I also had a meeting reminder go off, but it immediately snoozed itself too. This could be a problem!

I have had no problems with alarms or calendar alerts over the last 3 days....

I tried with Overclock widget, and it looks like it's making a difference so far. :D

Much love to the OP.

I have tried all the settings and everything and still am only getting 8 hours max. I do send quite a few texts and such though. I'm trying a factory restore quick to see what happens

Hey Nick -- are you running a patched kernel? because with the stock kernel it is not possible to scale the CPU.

the first root i did was Revoked, and i just did a Toast, and same setting for overclock widget...

1st notice i get is how phone is not so warm anymore when screen's turned off, and idling....

i'm charging so i'll post how the battery works out.

thanks

I think you're confused..

I am running the stock rooted evo rom from flipz. No kernel mods.

It has been my impression that you only need a different kernel if you want to "Over clock" beyond/above the stock MHZ.

Scaling it down does not require a patched/dev kernel.

Well I did the unrevoked this morning and installed the OverclockWidget app and it seems to be giving my EVO much more life than before. Before this experiment, the EVO lived for about 5 hours before dying. Now since 8AM till now (4:48PM) I still have 28% battery left. I might play around the setting again and see if I can do away with a few things to see if it increases. Good job finding this.

twospirits, i installed OMJ's Basic rom that removed all of the sprint bloatware. this seems to help with battery life too. might want to check that out too!

cheers!

Yah, same happened here. Out of the five times i tried it, only worked once. And that was running stock rom. Dont see any updates anywhere. Might want to try and download one from the marketplace.

That is correct.

well, i am not confused but i may be mistaken. as i understand it the tables used for the CPU need a patched kernel to allow amending. i get my information from one of the devs at androidcentral.

because i still can't get the widget to scale down the clock speed with the screen on and i haven't had anyone report back they could either.

I have to say thanks! This has really helped my Evo tremendously. I work from 12pm till 8pm and normally I'll have to charge my Evo at least once and sometimes even twice throughout my shift.

Well I rooted my Evo yesterday by using Unrevoked and followed these steps listed on this thread. Today I came to work at 9am working till 5pm. I have 30 minutes left in my shift and my battery is only at 69%. Normally it's way lower than that. I actually went a entire day without placing my Evo on the charger.

This is nice. :D

Thanks!

Bueller....bueller... Any one want to take a stab at it. Please.:)

I had mine set at 5 sec all night last night. Bad idea. The battery runs worse than pre-OC. I have since set it to 120 sec and turned off Google Talk (which runs in the background by default after you enter your Google creds.)

It's been unplugged for about 2 hours. I'm at 96% from full charge. I'm not sure if that tracks with others who have seen benefits or not...

Hey, I have on my EVO
Unrevoked
OCWidget
Battery Indicator
SystemPanel

Or is Unrevoked or the low freq settings when the screen is off is affecting the CPU processing tasks that should be trigged at certain time. I tried a few times during the day and didn't have problems with the calls, messages, IM, meeting and alarm alerts when the screen was off.

I am still not sure what happened this morning, if it was just a first time, a random issue or after a long period of inactivity the first alert don't go off.

I will try it again this night, hope not to be late to work and also don't miss the World Cup Game!

My battery journey today.

rassclawt: Would you mind posting all of your settings? Because that's ****ing awesome.

EDIT: Oh, you're on a log scale for CPU usage. Not quite as impressive >_<

Using this method on a new rom, so I'll try again tomorrow. So far in 30 mins, dropped 10% :-( No data usage or anything. Running OSJ rom. But I'll do a full cycle and see what happens.

EDIT: Also, I think the charts people are showing are people that barely use their phone. I send/receive a text about every 10 minutes, and mine dies quick as hell.

Hmm, does O/C Widget even work 100%? No matter what I set it to, /proc/cpuinfo is reporting:
Code:
Processor : ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7l)
BogoMIPS : 162.54
Features : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp thumbee neon
CPU implementer : 0x51
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant : 0x0
CPU part : 0x00f
CPU revision : 2

Hardware : supersonic
Revision : 0002
Serial : 0000000000000000

I think some people are forgetting about the apps they may have that are draining the crap out of their batteries...remember to consider this in your equation. Because 10% loss in 30 minutes is crazy!
