Root Root question (For a noob)

MxRcr22

Lurker
My HTC inpire broke so i purchased one off of ebay. The phone i bought was rooted and had Busy box installer and superuser. It was rooted with ace hack also. When i go to the app store, i have to log in to Gmail and it says "This could be a temporary problem or your sim card may not be provisioned for data services." My internet works fine after i switched the cards from my old phone to the new one so i dont know what the problem is. I dont want to have to reset my phone and get rid of the root programs. Also i have no idea how to use a rooted phone. Any help please??

Ok so the only thing that I can think that may be causing this if the last owner was using this phone with a sim card from another provider like strait talk or tmobile. You can do this on a rooted device. What will help in troubleshooting this is to know what rom is on the device and if you are really really new to root then this could be hard to find out. However some custom roms will promt you to select your carrier the very first time you power up your phone after installing it. You might be able to make your phone do this by factory reseting it. This may or may not work to be honest but factory reset will not cause you to lose root and when you power it on afterwards you may be able to select your carrier right from the start. I am taking shots in the dark here because we dont know what rom is on your device. This is going to take some research on your part. Good luck with this and keep us posted on this issue because this is a good one to know how to fix for future questions.
