Root Root question

Hey guys,

So here is the question:
Say i flashed back the stock ROM 2.1, can i root the device without flashing a custom ROM just to make use of some features like Titanium backups and nandroid and other things?!

Yes Just look for Universal AndRoot. It might be on the market (may have dreamt that), but should be able to find it by searching the name + 'xda'

I just tried that and my phone now is Rooted
BUT, i cannot flash the recovery image. it says Backup Failed on the Flashrec.
any suggestions!

Don't use flashrec. I dont think it works with 2.1.

Install 'ROM Manager' from the market. Open it and the first option will let you flash the clockwork recovery menu. Then, once that's done, the very bottom option in ROM manager will let you flash amon ra (if it's on the root of your sdcard).

Bit annoying you can't flash amon first, since it's better, but it's probably still the easiest way.

One more thing please, how can i install the terminal like it used to be installed in Elelinux?!

and now since i have amon ra installed, can i remove ROM Manager?

I don't know which app you used in Ele, but there are plenty of free terminal apps in the market

And yeah, you can uninstall it.
