Root Root/Recovery question

So I am used to Amon RA recovery from the Eris. Anything similar on the TB? or do we have to use ROMManager? Also is the rooting process the same? As in is flashing roms and the like as simple as it was with Amon RA?

Still debating on whether to root or not. TB as of now does a lot of good things well. Battery life could be better, but hey.

im a fan of Amon_Ra as well. hopefully he will do a recovery for the TB as well. in the mean time,you can use clockwork recovery,wich is very similar. yes,flashing roms with clockwork is indeed as simple as flashing them with Amon on the eris.

you will need to use rom manager to initially flash clockwork recovery. go to settings and make sure "erase recovery" is checked,then clear the download cache. then just pick the option to flash clockwork recovery. after that,the only thing i would personally use rom manager for is to boot into recovery until youre on rom that has that as a boot option when you power off the phone. otherwise,forget that its there flashing roms,making backups,etc.,is IMO not safe. rom manager id problematic and it can,and will,eventually goof stuff up.

youll be ahead of the game,and far less likely to have a prollem if you backup,wipe,and flash roms manually in recovery.

wether or not you should root is up to you. the TB is extremely fast and functional in stock form. no real need to root it like there was with the eris. even if you like the stock software,rooting will let you make backups,use set cpu to control processor speeds(in theory yielding better battery life),run "root only" apps,and remove bloatware fro the stock rom. so even if you have no desires to flash a custom rom,there are some practical reasons for rooting.

i personally rooted cause i cant leave anything well enuff alone i wanted to be able to make backups,and most of all wanted the ability to run cm7,as i dont care for htc sense
