I have completed the root process, got rom manager to work by flashing the tar file using odin (after deleting the md5 suffix from the filename) and got busybox. My question is, why do I need busybox? Its contents all look like greek to me.

Rooted a family member's SGH-T599N successfully. Thank you for the painless root.
Since there is no 'safe apps to delete' list created yet, I went ahead and used the latest Titanium Backup PRO to freeze all non-essential applications. This includes Metro Apps, 'stock apps' such as E-mail/Exchange, and third-party Apps. Only thing left is Google and Samsung.
Edit: Would like to add for anyone looking for the latest Samsung drivers, they can be found here. The link that the OP has posted was taken down by a Mod on XDA for unknown reasons.

At most you can delete Swype,Google chrome,Samsung keyboard, all metro stuff, and other stuff.

hey Swisaiahag, just wanted to ask/add these small pieces to your guide, make it easier for the new-guys I guess.. lol
first thing I would add is another source or personal link for the usb drivers.. cant get em off Samsung unless you use for another t599 model possibly? and the link most guides lead to are now dead due to mod edits.. so I suggest adding your own link or ill upload one for ya
and 1 last thing would be getting recovery, I personally used odin and had to jump through some hoops to get it to work and to find a proper flashable .tar file (some editing was required) lol, couldn't use rom manager and honestly I didn't try goo.manager (twrp) but either way add something to the guide so ppl kno haha
other than that your steps for root in general were perfect!! thanks bro!

Well clockwork mod alone really does nothing for you unless you plan on flashing a custom rom.
Also I meant that having a rooted phone let's me use link2sd which frees up more space for me.

Oh hah. Root if you prefer stock over custom roms, but flash cm if you want all that extra customizations. Personally cm has some minor issues that bother me so I stay on stock rooted.

The main issues with cm11 I find are the WiFi problems that causes a constant reboot cycle until it finally stops and an off sound. The red probably others I'm forgetting.

Yeah that sounds like a pain. I am a small business owner so I need my phone constantly and need reliability. So I will just go the stock (but rooted) route for now. But I will continue to monitor wifi and other CM progress here.
I remember the Nook Tablet had flaky wifi issues, too. But they eventually figured them out and that's when I put CM on my Nook Tablet. It's still an awesome device to this day, and I use it all the time. Thank goodness for all those who contribute to CM and port it to all the various devices!

Oh, also, I just wanted to report my experience with rooting using this method. After installing the Samsung drivers, I never got the option to connect via USB debugging when I attached via USB to computer. Usually a little bug looking icon pops up in the notification area. Or you can select it as one of the options. But I only had "connect as media / MTP device" and "connect as a camera" in the USB connection notification on the phone. Which threw me for a loop, as I had no way to know I was actually connected for USB debugging. I was screwing around for a good long while with uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, rebooting computer between steps, etc. and pulling my hair out trying to get it to connect for USB debugging.
Finally I just said hell with it and tried running the Impactor and it just worked. :/ Apparently it was connected for USB debugging all along but just never said so.
So I thought I would just share that in case anyone else was having the same experience.

I rooted my phone as said above partioned my sd card but still cant transfer my apps to sd card plz help

Apps can't be moved to the sd card with our phone. Link2sd is the best we got.

I see that now that i have rooted and linked useing link2sd i keep getting a error when downloading apps "insufficient storage available" i unistalled all my apps now cant get any back???????

well I know when you uninstall linked apps without unlinking them you can get errors. As for as the storage problem you might want to check to see if anything is actually taking up space.

First time with a GSM phone do I have to remove my sim card to root? Also what apps are safe to remove?

No you don't have to remove your sim card.
A few you can remove are :
MyMetro
Google apps that can be found in the play store
Visual Voicemail
Samsung Apps
Media Hub
Music Player
Just make sure you back up any apps you plan on removing. You can kind of take a guess at what apps are safe to remove.

This and also always make a back up on any phone regardless of what happens. Cause I been around the blockc with a few phones and all act different I've had 2 prevails frombosst mobile that had acted different from what you did just always make a back up of your ROM no matter what it will save you.
