Root root the thunderbolt?

so i completed the root. but have a questions. do i need to flash ClockworkRecovery? or is that come with the new RUU?

After I root, can I flash ROMs without worrying about the security warnings? Also, can I flash MR2 without having MR1? Any info would be great. Thanks :)

well, first of all flashing RUUs via hboot on your phone(or via an installer on your PC),and flashing ROMs in clockwork recovery are 2 very different things.

flashing things in an S-OFF hboot can end badly if youre not careful(see sticky how to thread for more info) and i would discourage new rooters to refrain from doing so unless abolutely neccessary, and then use extreme caution if you do.

so to directly answer the questions:
1)yes you can quite safely flash roms in recovery without any fear of security warnings.
2) if you are are refering to flashing the mr2 leak in hboot,no,do NOT do that over rooted firmware. a couple of people have accidentally done it and not gotten the security warning, but it will take away your custom recovery,s-off bootloader, and root access in a best case scenario. a worse case would be you DO see the security warning, and your phone will be a useless, expensive paperweight until new RUUs are released that you can try.

you need to be stock and not rooted if you wish to try any of the leaked RUUs that are flashed via hboot

if you are revering to flashing plain jane 3(rooted mr2) in recovery, yes, that is a perfectly safe operation.

to recap:
-any file that says "rename to PG05IMG" and flash in hboot, dont do it until you have more info.
-any file that says "flash in recovery" is perfectly safe.

hoe that helps. :)

Hboot bad, recovery good. Got it. I used to do it all the time on my X, the Bolt is a bit different though. I haven't gone through the ROM list yet, but do you have a recommendation for a good GB ROM that has minimal to no bugs?

Thanks,
You've been helpful.

Also, are there any ROMs with the MR2 radio built-in or do I need to flash the radio separate. I'd like a GPA that actually locks, but don't want to deal with the reboots.

OH! haha You said not to flash things that use HBOOT, but in order to get the MR2 radio on the phone doesn't that require HBOOT? Not that I can find a location to download it anyway... :/
