Root ROOT Update

Im new to the android world, came from a JB iphone and now I'm fully rooted. my ? here, when an update is available from a carrier how do we go buy updating this file without losing the root?

so we install the update via OTA and then wait for the root

or do we just re root the file when its up to date?
forgive for my noobie talk.

typically developers will get hold of OTAs before they start hitting our devices and will incorporate the updates into their roms. there may even be an update that contains the changes to flash in recovery,or an updated stock rom to flash in recovery.

so the easiest way to keep your root is to simply not let an OTA happen. as soon as you flash an updated rom,or flash the changes, your phone will stop bugging you to install the updates.

as firmware changes, the same root methods may or may not still work,so letting an ota happen may shoot you inthe foot,so to speak... you may NOT be able to re-root after.

one last bit of info is that clockwork recovery will not let the ota actually happen. once rooted, youll need to find a stock recovery image to flash to even consider using an OTA update. :)

last and not least, congrats on the very wise decision to jump to android from apple :D
