Root Root w/ Froyo RUU?

I am currently rooted and held off my OTA update because I haven't done the Unrevoked Forever and S-Off yet. I'm always a fan of competely wiping devices then installing the OS fresh so I'm considering just ditching all that and doing the RUU. Can I acheive root if I do this?

Yes, but you will either have to:

1. S-OFF before the 2.2 RUU
2. Use the somewhat awkward current 2.2 root method
3. Wait for the updated unrevoked 2.2 root, which should be coming soon

Personally, I'd hedge my bets and do #1.
