When i download these mods such as the stock root in the tutorial here and CTMod, I then extract it to my desktop but i dont see a zip. just folders and files. I remember doing CTMod on my prevail and i would insert the actual zip on my sdcard. Is it different now?

copy to zip to SD card . do not extract ... Install CTMOD in CWM

I have a problem with installing CWM. The phone is rooted but CWM doesn't seem to be working. I can boot into recovery but the the menu key doesn't select anything. It just goes down to the next selection

The keys are, left to right:

Home = up
Menu = down
Back = back
Search = select

Not intuitive but it allows you to navigate without touching (and wearing out) your physical buttons.

I cannot get this to work. I will admit I am as about a newbie as you can get but the directions are really simple and well written. (Thanks) that is why I am so frustrated with this.

Everything works well but I am running boost mobile and when I get to the updater where the timing is an issue no matter how I get it mine always boots up in Boost and not Sprint like the directions said it was supposed to.

I have tried to do it as directed about 20 times and even switching the phone on a half a second late or doing it the other way around. I just cannot get it right.

Has the original poster done the video tutorial ? I would be very appreciative of it if he has.

I have an older Ipad that needs me to be able to create a wireless hotspot for it to work to it's full potential.

Thanks Guy's
Roy

Been lurking since the prevail came out. 1. Question how long is the wait when I press run? Its set as run as admin The phone is full on, got the sprint boot. and booted normally. But ive been waiting for 15 mins and its just at daemon starts successfully Edit* never mind I got it. A quick reset did it.

Just going to add, for those getting errors on step 11. Mess with the timing when you turn on your phone. I tried 5 times with the 1 second rule for boost. Then tried 10. 15 seconds seems to do the trick. I would just freeze my pc if I tried it less than 15.

Thank you, just used this guide to fix a marquee for a friend. Very easy to follow. Got the timing down (boost) on the second try. :)

I finally got past step 11 that is tricky if you do not get the timing right it won't work. I tried all kinds of different times and then finally when I tried 10 seconds on my BOOST phone it booted up in Sprint.

Then it got stuck in continuous boot mode and I opened up the recovery manager like the directions said but I guess somehow.I did it at the wrong time and it just went back into continuous boot mode. Then it took several tries to get it back into recovery manager. It would not turn off so I had to keep pulling the battery out and then try booting it up.

But it finally did get past that point. Now I am waiting for the Stock SW to download. On my satellite internet it said it will take about 35 minutes.

Thanks for the help guy's.

I finally got through with the whole process. and wish that I had not started it so late on a sunday night LOL but it is done now and I am just trying to get everything back installed on it. :)

I am wondering, I recently rooted my friends Boost LG Marquee, and had no problems, but my question is that I noticed that Sprint made the same phone, If I were to purchase this phone off of EBAY and follow the rooting procedure for the Boost Mobile version, can I change the Sprint Version over to Boost, and is there anything I should look out for. the reason for my question is that people are selling the sprint version for about 100 dollars cheaper

Now since I have the phone rooted I figured I could just download quicksettings and open a hotspot from there. Wrong. I am wondering how to go about making my newly rooted phone become a wireless hotspot?

Thanks for any help

Go into the Play Store and download an app called "Wifi Tether for Root Users" thats that mobile hotspot ive been using since if had my prevail, its free and it does the job :smokingsomb:

I tried wi-fi tether for root users and every time I tell it to start tethering it tells me that it has started with errors check show-log.

When I check the show-log it say"s that the ad-hoc mode failed. And the signal will show up on my IPAD but it won't actually work.

Any Ideas?

I wasn't sure as to start a new thread about this or not so sorry if I should have but I kinda figured it pertained to the original post in as the only reason I rooted to begin with was to create a hotspot.

Thanks for any help.
