Root Root?

Hello all, I know this is not going to be easy and that I should read and re-read stickies. I have! I got information from this site and other sites. I have gone as far as unlocking my phone so I did something right right?

I really want to root this phone. Now I need a guide that can start me where I left off. So I need a guide or step by step help for an unlocked EVO 4G 2.3.5 with 4.67.651.3 software number.

If there is a guide for this please don't be rude just post a link.

If you unlocked it via HTCdev method, then click on the "show" button under "HTCdev method (recommended)"...scroll down to step 2--"how to get recovery"
Then follow those instructions to install recovery....
I am floating back and forth from my computer and will try to check back for ya

Okay I think I flashed it correctly? Is it supposed to take long because mine only took a few seconds and it said finished?

Should I now do the "flash su file" thingy???
 
Don't worry about the SU file just move down and follow the instructions for the ADB Command Method. This will install the preferred Amon 2.3 recovery.

After that move on the the section for flashing roms.

Thanks guys... What does go into recovery mean??? I pressed the vol down and power button and volume down to recovery and hit power to select that option but nothing happens?

Before we answer that question.. I downloaded the mikeG rom and it wants me to transfer it on my card??? is it talking about sd card and if so I have my phone connected to my computer and browsing through it I can't see the sd card folder

Do I have to unzip it and then copy to sd card? or just copy as zip file?

When you plug your phone into computer and mount it, what you see on computer is your sd card contents and yes put MikG on sd card, not in any folder of sd card, just place it there..

Now about your recovery, what method did you use to install the recovery...
step 1, 2, or 3...(ADB, Android Flasher, or PC36IMG)?

Edit....leave the MikG file zipped for now.....
We need to get your recovery working first

I think I was doing something wrong but the recovery worked!! yay!!!

Thank you so much I will do as you said and update you asap! I think the rom is being installed now this is exciting!

Sweet...I'll be here along w/others to help
Glad it's working...it is very exciting to play with rooted phones.
Just remember to make a nandroid backup...I'll send you a link on how to do that...stand by....

yw...MikG is a very nice rom...I ran it for 5 months until my current rom-Decks Reloaded...Enjoy!:)
