Root Rooted and can't update to GB.

Ok so im rooted running gingerblur. I downloaded the update last night and during the install I got the "!" in a triangle with the little android guy . I think I remember people having the same problems when the last update came around and it was due to webtop unlock or something?

Anyways what steps do I need to do? or should I just do a a factory reset?

i flashed a stock rom of 1.8.3 and then upgraded from there.

You have to flash back to stock....you cant upgrade a rooted phone.

Installing the OTA *will* unroot you - that's just the way those things work. As for re-rooting and unlocking your bootloader, if that's what you want, well, you could go here - [HOWTO] Root any Atrix after .sbf flash - xda-developers - and follow the instructions. Be aware though, they're talking about some complex things, so don't attempt to do *anything* unless you fully understand what they're talking about.

Do not factory reset. The phone being rooted should not stop the update, BUT and this is a big BUT if you replaced any of the system files (like say the webtop mod) your update will crash and brick your phone. Since there are some major changes between 4.1.83 and Gingerbread, flashing back to 4.1.83 even from a bad update may brick your phone. I do not know if this will work and I do not know if it will brick your phone or not (which it may) but you may want to flash the GB sbf here: [HOWTO] Root any Atrix after .sbf flash - xda-developers

If this was the update to 4.1.83, you would be fine, but this is 4.1.83 to GB; so this is really new ground and possible brick time.

what do you mean by a stock rom.... i have a mac and i feel this might be part of my problem.
